Emerging role of epigenetic regulations in periodontitis: a literature review
Am J Transl Res. 2022 Apr 15;14(4):2162-2183. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTPeriodontitis is mainly initiated by periodontal pathogens including Porphyromonas gingivalis, and bad living habits such as smoking aggravate its incidence and severity. The development of periodontitis is closely related to the host's immune responses and the secretion of various cytokine networks. Moreover, periodontitis has an important connection with the development of systemic diseases. Recently, epigenetics which is a fast-developing hot research area has provided new insights into the research of various diseases including periodontitis. Epigen...

Factors influencing quality of life and work of male nurses in Hainan Province: logistic regression analysis
CONCLUSION: Male nurses in Hainan Province mostly worked in departments with high work intensity and pressure, and the overall quality of life, social support and job satisfaction were significantly lower than those of female nurses. Therefore, psychological guidance for male nurses should be strengthened, the salary of male nurses should be increased, higher social support should be provided, to reduce job burnout and thus improve their quality of life.PMID:35559412 | PMC:PMC9091086 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Changes in transepithelial electrical resistance and intracellular ion concentration in TGF- β-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition of retinal pigment epithelial cells
CONCLUSION: TGF-β1 and TGF-β2 disrupted the ARPE-19 cell monolayer, disturbed TJs integrity, downregulated TEER values, and changed intracellular ion permeability. These findings might help further understand the EMT of RPE cells during PVR.PMID:35559413 | PMC:PMC9091112 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Screening of key genes associated with m6A methylation in diabetic nephropathy patients by CIBERSORT and weighted gene coexpression network analysis
In this study, we analyzed differentially expressed genes (DEG) in the GEO database (GSE96804) and paid attention to genes with m6A methylation. 623 DEGs in glomerular tissue were identified by comparing diabetic nephropathy with normal. Correlation analysis with 21 genes involved in m6A modification showed that 492 genes were associated with m6A methylation. According to the CIBERSORT algorithm, the infiltration of M1 macrophages in DN patients was significantly higher than that in normal samples. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to screen for the modules most correlated with the clinical featu...

The correlation between lncRNA NEAT1 and serum hepcidin in the peripheral blood of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients
CONCLUSION: lncRNA NEAT1 is abnormally overexpressed in the PBMCs of patients with NAFLD. The regulatory effect of lncRNA NEAT1 on NAFLD may be related to the mechanism of HEPC, which is expected to be a potential biological indicator for the prevention and treatment of NAFLD.PMID:35559416 | PMC:PMC9091126 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

YY1 as a promoter regulating the circ_0001946/miR-671-5p/EGFR axis to promote chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer cells
CONCLUSION: Circ_0001946 absorbs miR-671-5p to target EGFR to promote the growth and malignant invasion of drug-resistant BC cells, thereby increasing the resistance to tamoxifen. This effect of circ_0001946 may be achieved by transcriptional activation of YY1.PMID:35559420 | PMC:PMC9091114 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)

Effects of silver foam combined with Dermlin wound healing dressing on inflammation and quality of life in patients with diabetic lower limb ulcers
CONCLUSION: The treatment of diabetic lower limb ulcers with silver foam combined with Dermlin dressing can effectively promote wound healing, reduce pain intensity, and improve quality of life in patients with diabetic lower limb ulcers. Such effects may be attributed to lower levels of inflammatory factor levels, regulation of oxidative stress, and improvement of angiogenesis.PMID:35559422 | PMC:PMC9091129 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)
