The effect of sex, age, work experience, education, shift, and ward on nursing autonomy perceptions
CONCLUSIONS: The results highlighted the intricate world both of the healthcare surrounding and the abilities to act autonomously within the multiprofessional staff. Future studies will develop qualitative and phenomenological designs in order to better define in which fields nurses will act their professional autonomy.PMID:38669509 | DOI:10.3233/WOR-230740 (Source: Work)

Performance, digestibility and meat quality from lambs fed diets with plantago lanceolata, Italian ryegrass or sainfoin herbages
AbstractPlantago species, which is known to adapt to different climatic conditions, drought, temperature and different soil types. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of P. lanceolata herbage on fattening performance, rumen variables, digestibility, meat quality, meat nutrients and meat textural variables in lambs with the values of Italian ryegrass and sainfoin herbages. The lambs were fed total mix ration (TMR) with concentrated feed (about 30%) plus forage (about 70%) (P. lanceolata,PLA, Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum);IRY or sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) herbages,SAI). Twenty-four male lambs (Akka...

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1687: Development of an Artificial-Intelligence-Based Tool for Automated Assessment of Cellularity in Bone Marrow Biopsies in Ph-Negative Myeloproliferative Neoplasms
o Andrea Ronchi The cellularity assessment in bone marrow biopsies (BMBs) for the diagnosis of Philadelphia chromosome (Ph)-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) is a key diagnostic feature and is usually performed by the human eyes through an optical microscope with consequent inter-observer and intra-observer variability. Thus, the use of an automated tool may reduce variability, improving the uniformity of the evaluation. The aim of this work is to develop an accurate AI-based tool for the automated quantification of cellularity in BMB histology. A total of 55 BMB histological slides, diagnosed as Ph- MPN b...

Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 688: Long-Term Impairment of Working Ability in Subjects under 60 Years of Age Hospitalised for COVID-19 at 2 Years of Follow-Up: A Cross-Sectional Study
Conclusions: Our findings suggest that PASC promotes conditions that could result in decreased working ability and unemployment. These results highlight the significant impact of this syndrome on public health and the global economy, and the need to develop clinical pathways and guidelines for long-term care with specific focus on working impairment. An Analysis of the Distribution of Direct Cost of Diabetes Care in Selected Districts in Italy
ConclusionAnnual cost of treatment for people with diabetes is similar for those treated with MDI or with basal insulin only, with hospitalization being the main cost driver. This indicates that both patient groups should benefit from having access to scanning continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology which is known to be associated with significantly reduced hospitalization for acute diabetes events, compared to self-monitored blood glucose (SMBG) testing. Persistent negative symptoms in young people at clinical high risk of psychosis treated with an Italian early intervention program: a longitudinal study
This study aims to (a) determine the prevalence of PNS in a sample of young people at CHR-P; (b) investigate any association of PNS with functioning and clinical features; (c) examine longitudinal course of PNS across 2 years of follow-up and changes in PNS severity levels with specialize d treatments. One Hundred Eighty CHR-P participants were recruited and were divided into CHR-P/PNS + and CHR-P/PNS− subgroups. The clinical assessments were based on the PANSS and the GAF and were conducted at baseline and every 12 months during the follow-up. Twenty four participants showed PNS at entry. Of them, 21 concluded the...

Cross-cultural validity and reliability of the comprehensive assessment of acceptance and commitment therapy processes (CompACT) in people with multiple sclerosis
ConclusionResults support using the refined CompACT-18 as a three-factor measure of psychological flexibility in PwMS. Paper and eCompACT-18 versions are equivalent. CompACT-18 can be used cross-culturally, but sub-optimal scalar invariance suggests that direct comparison between the three language versions should be interpreted with caution. European pathways of care in Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency
CONCLUSIONS: European care pathways for AATD are largely uniform, but with notable heterogeneity in testing approaches and a need for education and standardisation. Familiarity with and use of ERN-LUNG AATD services is variable, and increased awareness of these services is warranted.PMID:38661678 | DOI:10.1016/j.rmed.2023.107450 (Source: Respiratory Care)

Nutritional quality and level of processing of food items broadcasted on Italian television in advertisements targeted to children
This study evaluates the nutritional quality and level of processing of food and beverage products advertised on television channels most watched by children, in Italy. Data were collected over 20 non-consecutive days from the five top channels in Italy. A total of 209 food items were analysed using the Nutri-Score and the NOVA classification. Additionally, compliance with nutritional criteria established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the EU-PLEDGE was assessed. Results indicate a high proportion of energy-dense and low nutritional quality foods, with 68% falling into less favourable Nutri-Score categories (C,...

Comp Immunol Microbiol Infect Dis. 2024 Apr 17;109:102185. doi: 10.1016/j.cimid.2024.102185. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo evaluate the frequency of Acinetobacter spp., belonging to both Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii (ACB) and non-ACB complex, and their antibiotic resistance profiles in veterinary medicine, a three-year (2020-2022) retrospective study was carried out on sick companion animals. Epidemiological data from different clinical canine, feline, and equine samples, were acquired. For each strain, MALDI-TOF MS identification and susceptibility to a panel of 11 antibiotics, by Kirby-Bauer and E-test method...
