PROACT 2.0: A new open-source tool to improve patient-doctor communication in clinical trials
Tumori. 2024 Apr 27:3008916241248007. doi: 10.1177/03008916241248007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe use of Digital Healthcare Products is leading to significant improvements in clinical practice. Herein, we discuss the development of PROACT 2.0 (Patient Reported Opinions About Clinical Tolerability v2.0), a novel open-source mobile and web application developed at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale Tumori in Milan. It was developed in collaboration with The Christie, Manchester, in the context of work package 2 of the UpSMART Accelerator project, involving a consortium of referral cancer centers from the UK, Spain and...

Prevalence of FMS Diagnosis According to ACR 2016 Revised Criteria in a Pain Therapy Centre in Italy: Observational Study
Conclusions: This prospective observational study confirmed the diagnostic challenge with FMS, as demonstrated by the moderate grade of agreement between the FMS diagnosis at discharge and the positivity for 2016 ACR criteria. In our opinion, the use of widely accepted diagnostic guidelines should be implemented in clinical scenarios and should become a common language among clinicians who evaluate and treat patients reporting widespread pain and FMS-suggestive symptoms. Further methodologically stronger studies will be necessary to validate our observation.PMID:38674245 | PMC:PMC11052143 | DOI:10.3390/medicina60040599 (So...

Immunological Aspects of Kabuki Syndrome: A Retrospective Multicenter Study of the Italian Primary Immunodeficiency Network (IPINet)
In conclusion, immunological manifestations of KS in our cohort include susceptibility to infections, antibody deficiency, and autoimmunity. Autoimmune cytopenia is correlated with thymectomy and elevated CD3  + TCRαβ + CD4-CD8-T-cells, and benefits from treatment with mycophenolate. (Source: Journal of Clinical Immunology)

Bleaching versus color change resistant adhesive in the discoloration of bracket-bonded tooth surfaces: an in vitro study
ConclusionsAfter coffee-induced enamel discoloration, bleaching of teeth bonded with TRXT produced acceptable color difference of the incisal, middle, and gingival regions of the crown. In teeth bonded with Orthocem, acceptable color difference was seen only in the middle of the crown.Clinical relevanceThe presented study will guide the clinician on how enamel discoloration side effect of fixed orthodontic appliance can reduce. Simplified Criteria for Identification of Familial Hypercholesterolemia in Children: Application in Real Life
CONCLUSIONS: In the pediatric population, the combination of LDL-C ≥95th percentile in the proband and the dominant inheritance pattern of hypercholesterolemia, with LDL-C ≥95th percentile in one parent, is a simple, useful and effective diagnostic criterion, showing high MDR. This pattern is crucial for early FH diagnosis. EAS, SBR and LIPIGEN-FH-PED criteria can underestimate the real number of patients with gene mutations and cannot be considered strictly discriminant for the execution of molecular analysis.PMID:38667741 | DOI:10.3390/jcdd11040123 (Source: Atherosclerosis)
