Recommended Radiology Rotations?
Hello! I am a second year veterinary student looking to pursue a specialty in Radiology. Although I still have a year, I'm trying to research which radiology rotations are recommended, including any locations for future internships. Do any upperclassmen have any suggestions on rotations to either put on my radar or to avoid? Thank you so much in advance! ^-^ (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VA Internship--Maternity Leave Question
Hey all, I was hoping anyone had any insight into what VAs do regarding maternity leave for interns? It appears they've taken away the paid maternity leave, as well as some other benefits, for interns starting with this 2022-2023 internship class. Does anyone who currently works for a VA know what options are available if an intern does give birth during internship year? Especially in states that may not have other state-level maternity leave practices? I imagine an intern wouldn't qualify... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Considering internships for the future as an aspirant physician-scientist
Hey all 👋, I’ve posted in these forums a couple of times, but I wanted to gain some potential advice or pointers on where to apply for undergraduate summer research experience. I currently have an internship position for summer 2022, Aspirnaut/Hal Moses Research Program at VUMC, which would be my first biomedical research experience ever, so I’m very grateful for the position. Moreover, for future reference, I was curious if anyone knew of genetic therapy- (any), cancer biology-, or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it possible that SDN is not overexaggerating the decline in EM?
There's hardly a case where some of the stuff that I see on Reddit and SDN affects my day to day life, but recently I've seen several (not 1 or 2, but between 3-5) residents from the intern EM class alone choose to switch to Neurology, Anesthesia, or Internal Medicine. It could be a related to other factors as EM is pretty procedural and I know one of the interns was having issues with the stress of doing procedures, but I was wondering if this was happening across the nation? If this is the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

West Coast University or Samuel Merritt University?
Hello all, I have been accepted and paid deposits for both West Coast and Samuel Merritt, as I've been having difficulty making a decision. I have heard that as a much more established program, Samuel Merritt has a more expansive network, in terms of clinical internships, but aside from that, I do not know much, comparatively between the two. I have basic surface knowledge of each school but would like to know more from students, and what others know about the programs. Any pros and cons... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I do Sub Internships at my top choices or not?
I am applying IM, I am a USDO with a 228 on step 1. I am being told conflicting advice on whether or not to do Sub-Is next year. Would I be better off doing Sub-Is or doing aways in IM subspecialties like Cardio, GI, Rheum, etc.? I am torn on what to do and my school emailed us today telling us to begin preparing for our auditions. Thank you all! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VA internship stipend question
For anyone familiar with the VA system and their internships, do they typically adjust stipends based on cost of living increases or are stipends more dependent on funding from grants, etc.? With or without an adjustment, it will not change how I rank them - this is just a matter of curiosity in general (as well as early planning to make the year affordable, should I match with one). Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Next steps as a non traditional?
So I basically graduated college last year and had a very bad undergrad experience. I decided to take the rest of premed requirements after I graduated at a local university. I graduated college with a 3.098 (120 credits with additional 5 that were pass fail) and 2.87 scgpa). I took gen chem 1 twice in undergrad due to personal problems. My postbacc gpa is a 3.78 with 15 credits, all science/ math courses. I did about two internships during undergrad. One was an online summer one where I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cornell Rotating Internship - Any Feedback?
Hi all - I am applying for rotating internships and am interested in applying to Cornell's program, but they will not let prospective interns talk to current interns and they do not interview so there really isn't a way to sus out what their program is really like. I know this is a red flag but I would like to know a bit more before deciding to apply to them or not. I was wondering if anyone here who went to Cornell either for their clinical year or as an intern would be willing to chat with... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I don't know enough
As I'm approaching the last 6 months of IM residency, I'm beginning to feel terrified. I feel like I don't know enough. Actually, the only thing I know is that I don't know. I feel like I still miss things, sometimes my interns know more than I do, and just do not think I'm a good doctor. When I'm on floor and listen to how my attendings reason through things, I wonder why I can't do that myself. I know I need to study more and I try but I turn around and forget the info. There are things... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am a terrible resident
About halfway through intern year and I am struggling. There's nothing glaringly terrible that has happened but I feel like I have learned almost nothing and am lagging behind the other interns, who talk about the compliments they have received from attendings. Meanwhile my reviews are lukewarm at best. The med students I work with seem smarter and more together than I do. When I try to de-escalate patients they get even more agitated. I've been told I should appear more confident, but how... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anesthesiology Residency - Mayo Jax
Greetings all, I was hoping to get some feedback on what other people who interviewed here or from current and graduated residents thought about this program. I was planning on ranking them very high, but something doesn't sit well with me about the 1st year being run by the IM department with little input from the anesthesiology PD. Other programs seem to really incorporate anesthesia into their intern year and still allows interns to attend anesthesia events/didactics exc... How is the...
