IMG repeating a preclinical year
context: am an "IMG" in an Australian MD program, whio will potentially have to repeat a preclinical year (m2) due to a failed exam. There will be an F on my transcript for M2. How will this affect my 1. application for internships/residencies in australia? 2. application for residenicies in USA/ other countries? Is having to repeat a year more damning for IMGs than is it for domestic applicants? Thank you for any input. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Summer research - leave home institution or stay?
I am very well integrated in my home institution’s neuroscience/physiology department. I have a lot of amazing opportunities here. Staying over the summer would allow me to take on more leadership roles and get to know my PI even better. I’ve also been talking to a different professor about learning a new technique and trying it out over in his lab. However, I’ve considered applying to summer internships to see what other labs are like at different institutions, gain new experiences, and... Summer research - leave home institution or stay? Graduation date/licensing
I’m currently applying to internships through the VIRMP. Many of them start in early June, and under prerequisites list that you must be able to obtain a state license before the start of the program. I finish school in the beginning of May, but don’t graduate until the 15th of June. Am I not eligible for licensing until June 15, meaning I can’t apply to many programs? Regis and University of Colorado No Longer Requiring PCAT
Both schools in Colorado no longer require the PCAT. This is apparently because "Other schools don't require it", but I've spoken with people on the admissions committee it sounds like it is because there aren't enough students applying. Anyone else feel like not taking interns anymore? This sounds like a pile of garbage. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How do people survive off intern salaries?
Just as the title states.. I'm looking at certain internship sites like The Animal Medical Center in NYC, and they pay a salary of 27k... But this is NYC we're talking here with crazy ass prices. I don't even think the salary after taxes will even cover rent let alone other expenses like food, insurance, etc. How do these hospitals expect these interns to survive?? Intern Feeling Behind - Any Recommended Material for the "Basics"?
I'm a psych resident just starting my medicine months. I started the year off inpatient psych so I have had no experience in the medical hospital and thus feel very far behind all the other interns who have been doing this for 4 months already. I have forgotten so much from medical school. I feel like a glorified medical student and complete fraud. I can feel myself starting to get depressed and just feel worthless. Is there anything to read/watch that can help me get the basics down... Intern Feeling Behind - Any Recommended Material for the "Basics"? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are questions you wish you would have asked about internship programs?
Greetings and salutations! Currently in the process of formulating my list of small animal rotating internship programs to reach out to. For those who have gone through the Match, what are some questions that you asked or wish you would have asked interns in the programs you applied to? I want to get a good sense for what life is really like as an intern in these programs, but I'm not entirely sure what all I should be asking in order to accomplish this. I don't want to waste the time of... What are questions you wish you would have asked about internship programs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Summer research internships for High School Students
I'm a high school junior and am interested in a career in biomedical research. I'm taking all of the right classes (AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Research...). have a 4.4 GPA and am working on getting my SAT scores up (first attempt was 1470). I know, however, that won't be enough to get me into a top tier undergrad program (I'd LOVE to go to Duke, for example). I'd like to find a good summer research internship for the 2020 summer. Unfortunately there is NOTHING in my somewhat rural area (I've... Summer research internships for High School Students (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Post-Match Travel Plans?
To try and step away from the stress and anxiety of applying to residency, I thought it would nice to think of some exciting plans in the future. One of the most frequent pieces of advice I've heard from interns is to take time after the Match to travel, even if it means taking out a little bit more loans. What are your plans? Where did you decide to travel and why? (I'm also looking for recommendations) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Planning on going into GP - internship necessary?
I am currently a 4th year veterinary student. I have been debating about doing an internship since the start of my third year. I honestly plan on just going into small animal GP, but many veterinarians that I have worked with so far in my externships and in clinics all recommend doing an internship. The only veterinarians that did not think internships were necessary were those who never completed an internship themselves.... My main reservation is not being able to live on an intern salary... Equine Internships and dogs
I'm a 3rd year veterinary student currently putting together my clinical year schedule and looking ahead at internships. For my clinical year, my 2 medium sized dogs will be staying with my fiancé when I'm on my equine externships. But, I am starting to worry about what to do with them during my internship. I can't imagine living away from them for an entire year, especially if I am multiple states away (likely). I know some internships allow interns to have pets, but how common is this... Coding Class
Biotechnology Major Pre Med Freshman I have some friends that told me I should take CSE 110 (Principles of Programming- Java) next semester as it helped them get internships over the summer at TGen (a research institute here in Arizona). It could also broaden my area of expertise and make me a well rounded student. Is it worth it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
