Questions for OMFS Residents, please answer!
1. Do you think your CBSE he was the main factor that was considered? 2. Would having significant research, like winning a national award in OMFS research, greatly impact the amount of interviews you get? 3. Which non-categorical internships are known to match into programs the following year? Or to take their non-cats 4. Is East Coast and West Coast bias a thing? For example, if I’m from the East Coast, would it be harder for me to get west coast interviews 5. At the end of the day... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When to NOT rank a competitive program #1 ?
Got an interview at very good program with only 5-10% of interns last year being DO's that seems too good to be true based on my stats. Even if I impress them in the interview, would I have a chance of matching if i placed them as #1? What do I need to look at in a program to assess whether or not i can match? Taking Step 2 Date & Planning Sub-Is
I know that this won't have to come up for a few months but I'm looking for insight as to when it's a good time to take Step 2, when did other MS3/4s decide to take it and how far before ERAS opening can you take it. The 2023 ERAS timeline had initial applications open up on June 8th with supplementals open on August 1st so I've been working with an estimated exam date beginning to mid May. Any experience taking it earlier or during rotations? On the subject of Sub-internships, I've heard... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VA training program closure
Currently a postdoc at a large VA hospital. Today leadership announced that they will not be recruiting any trainees for the 2023-2024 cycle. No postdocs, interns, or practicum trainees/clerks. No specific reason given. Current postdocs have asked for more details, but leadership have not provided any substantive information. Neuro/Rehab psych postdocs in their 1st year of a 2-year program have been told not to worry, but it remains unclear how things like didactics will be fulfilled in... Letter of Recommendation from a rotation where you only see residents but not attendings?
Currently on a rotation where I talk with residents every time and barely get to see attendings. The only time I can see an attending is when we are doing rounds but there are two problems with that: 1) Rounds are with several different attendings and rounds for any single attending is only 15-20 minutes and 2) there are a million med students and residents and med students are only supposed to "speak when spoken to" during rounds. The residents and interns are super nice. But I want an LOR... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Intern or stay in GP
Hello, I'm looking for input from people that have done internships and residencies. I've been in GP for 2 years and keep circling back to thinking I need to do an internship. I have a lot of concerns about interning and am hoping to get some feedback from people that have been through it already or are currently in an internship. Thank you so much. 1. Is interning worthwhile if not followed up with a residency? Worthwhile in managing challenging cases in GP, owners, ER exposure? 2. Can... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

APA internship
Hi, I am a first year PsyD student at a program that is accredited on contingency from the APA (i made sure that students from such programs were eligible for the match even before i started the program). I may be jumping the gun but I am looking for any advice on how to make myself competitive for APA internships, unlike my peers I refuse to do an internship that’s not accredited. Even though it’s not required for my state. According to my professor, with the amount of accredited... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are my chances at for top 3 Caribbean schools (Ross, SGU, AUC) with a red flag?
Graduating with a degree in Human Biology with cGPA 3.5 and 4 withdrawals over a span of 3 years (2 my sophomore year, 1 my junior year, and 1 my senior year). MCAT at 501 and I have some decent volunteering, internships, and shadowing experiences. I can explain the first 2 withdrawals (family emergency, health issues) but I don't have any good reasons for the latter two outside of lack of time management and poor study habits. Prefer not to get into a discussion over why not to go... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Making waves as an intern
I’m currently about 2 months into my predoctoral internship at an APA accredited site in a private practice setting. This is my first experience within a private practice setting, most of my experience has been with much larger organizations with more resources. I’m trying to figure out how to approach some of the concerns I have about the site. Some of the supervisors/training team are very quick to becoming defensive, passive-aggressive, and/or petty in response to myself and other interns... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about non-trad ERAS activities?
Hi friends, I'm about 10 years out from undergrad, I then I went to grad school and finally medical school. In between that I was trying to figure out what I wanted to with my life (until grad school) and then when I finally figured it I and was doing jobs to get clinical experience and my post-bacc to get pre-med classes. This means that I worked a few random jobs (scribing 2x, research job, tutoring, restaurant server, and 2 internships related to my grad degree). I'm not sure at all how... Thoughts on these NP post doc sites?
I recently started internship, but like other new interns on this forum, I'm already thinking about postdoc! I don't know anyone directly who trained at these sites, so I'm wondering if anyone can provide some info on the adult neuropsychology fellowships? Either here or PM if you feel more comfortable, about if they're worth applying to (or not), or just anything noteworthy? Things not found in the brochure, either good or bad would be appreciated. Ie, if they're higher than average... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

AAPIC Application (AAPI) Disclosing a Sealed Record
Hi there everyone. I'm applying to Clinical Psychology internships this fall (for the 2023-24 year) using AAPI and I'm unsure about disclosing a sealed record from 2012 when I was 18. I received a Minor in Possession of alcohol ticket, which is a misdemeanor without arrest, but it was sealed by the court after I completed their requirements shortly after. I haven't reported it on any employment, graduate school, or practicum applications/paperwork this far without consequence and, as far as... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
