Genetic profiling of azoospermic men to identify the etiology and predict reproductive potential
ConclusionsSperm genome profiling provides invaluable information on azoospermia etiology and identifies gene-related mechanistic links to reproductive performance. Moreover, RNAseq assessment of seminal fluid from NOA men can help predict sperm retrieval during testicular biopsies. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

Impact of mildly evaluated thyroid-stimulating hormone levels on in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes in women with the first fresh embryo transfer: a large study from China
ConclusionMildly elevated pre-conception TSH levels in thyroid-normal infertile patients did not have an impact on pregnancy outcomes of IVF/ICSI treatments. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

Letrozole cotreatment progestin-primed ovarian stimulation in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation for in vitro fertilization
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective study with a limited sample size suggests that the Le PPOS protocol might be an alternative to the PPOS protocol in women undergoing COS and could lead to better pregnancy outcomes. The results should be confirmed using a formal randomized controlled trial.PMID:38403851 | DOI:10.1111/jog.15911 (Source: Cell Research)

Fertility preservation in adult male patients with cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Hum Reprod Open. 2024 Jan 30;2024(1):hoae006. doi: 10.1093/hropen/hoae006. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTSTUDY QUESTION: Does sperm cryopreservation serve as a feasible and effective method for preserving fertility in adult male patients with cancer?SUMMARY ANSWER: Sperm cryopreservation is an effective fertility preservation method and may benefit patients with cancer.WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Sperm cryopreservation is the only way to efficiently preserve male fertility. It is an important procedure in ART. Recently, due to remarkable advances in cancer treatment, an increasing number of studies have reported the outcomes of sper...

Whole ‐exome sequencing identifies ADGB as a novel causative gene for male infertility in humans: from motility to fertilization
Discussion and conclusionOur findings provide new information for the molecular diagnosis of asthenoteratozoospermia and valuable reference for personalized genetic counselling and clinical treatment for these patients. The underlying risk of IVF failure behind sperm defects was highlighted. (Source: Andrology)

Indications affect neonatal outcomes following early rescue ICSI: a retrospective study
ConclusionEarly rICSI in patients with total fertilization failure (TFF) appeared to be safe in terms of neonatal outcomes. However, when expanding the indications of rICSI to PFF patients, the SGA in the offspring increased, suggesting a potential effect on long-term health. Since other treatment options, such as using only the IVF-origin embryos still exist for these patients, further studies were needed to confirm the optimal decision for these patients. To ICSI or not to ICSI: until proven otherwise less is more in the in  vitro fertilization laboratory
In recent years, both popular and academic press have scrutinized “in vitro fertilization (IVF) add-ons,” seeking justification for our field’s widespread adoption of these technologies. Overutilization of one such add-on, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), for indications other than male factor infertility has potential negative implications for cost effectiveness and even for pregnancy, neonatal, and/or pediatric outcomes from assisted reproductive technology (ART). The psychosocial impact of male infertility on men undergoing ICSI treatment: a qualitative study
Male infertility is in 20 –70% of cases the cause of a couple’s infertility. Severe forms of male infertility are best treated with Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The psychosocial impact of infertilit... (Source: Reproductive Health)
