Comparison of clinical effectiveness and subsequent fertility between hysteroscopic resection and vaginal repair in patients with cesarean scar defect: a prospective observational study
CONCLUSIONS: Hysteroscopic resection is as effective as vaginal repair at relieving symptoms of CSD-associated prolonged menses. Hysteroscopic resection is the modality of choice with an improvement in prolonged menses for small niche, while vaginal might be considered for a large niche. Furthermore, surgical intervention could improve the clinical pregnancy rate of CSD patients. All of these provide evidence for the individualized management of CSD.PMID:38082355 | DOI:10.1186/s12958-023-01169-4 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Maternal and neonatal complications after IVF/ICSI-fresh embryo transfer in low-prognosis women under the POSEIDON criteria: a retrospective cohort study
Several studies on pregnancy complications of poor ovarian response (POR) patients did not draw a consistent conclusion. The POSEIDON criteria introduces the concept of “low prognosis” and divides POR patients... (Source: BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth)

Prospective multicenter observational real-world study to assess the use, efficacy and safety profile of follitropin delta during IVF/ICSI procedures (DELTA Study)
Controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) aims to obtain an adequate number of competent oocytes to be used for assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), with minimum risks for the woman[1]. Pre- and post-chemotherapy spermatogenesis in male patients with malignant bone and soft tissue tumors
This study aims to assess spermatogenesis in male patients diagnosed with malignant bone and soft tissue tumors before and after chemotherapy. Methods: This study involved 34 male patients diagnosed with malignant bone and soft tissue tumors and subsequently underwent sperm cryopreservation before initiating treatment. Medical records included details about the primary disease, age, marital status at presentation, semen analysis results, treatment regimen and number of courses, post-treatment semen analysis, renewal status and outcomes. Results: The mean age at the time of sperm cryopreservation was 22.8 years. The median s...

Y chromosome microdeletions in Chinese men with infertility: prevalence, phenotypes, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: This is the largest epidemiological study on Y chromosome microdeletions in Chinese men with infertility. The study results underline the necessity for detecting Y chromosome microdeletion in men with infertility and severe sperm count abnormalities, especially those with cryptozoospermia. The combined deletion of sY254 and sY255 in the AZFc region and sY152 in the AZFd region was the most prevalent Y chromosome microdeletion pattern. Among patients with AZFcd deletion and ejaculated sperm, ICSI treatment can result in pregnancy outcomes, similar to those without AZFcd deletion.PMID:38053137 | DOI:10.1186/s129...

Defects in phospholipase C zeta cause polyspermy and low fertilization after conventional IVF: not just ICSI failure
Asian J Androl. 2023 Nov 17. doi: 10.4103/aja202355. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPhospholipase C zeta (PLCζ) is a key sperm-borne oocyte-activating factor that triggers Ca2+ oscillations and the subsequent block to polyspermy following gamete fusion. Mutations in PLCZ1, the gene encoding PLCζ, cause male infertility and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) fertilization failure; and PLCζ expression and localization patterns are significantly correlated with ICSI fertilization rate (FR). However, in conventional in vitro fertilization (cIVF), whether and how sperm PLCζ affects fertilization remain unclear. Herein, ...

Comparing online crowdsourcing with clinic patient enrollment: Findings from the IP4IC Study on interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome
CONCLUSION: The IP4IC Study provides valuable insights into the similarities and differences between patients recruited through clinics and those recruited through online crowdsourcing. There were no significant differences in disease symptoms among these groups. Individuals who express an interest in digital health research and self-identify as having been previously diagnosed by physicians with IC/BPS can be regarded as reliable candidates for crowdsourcing research.PMID:38025103 | PMC:PMC10664419 | DOI:10.1177/20552076231216280 (Source: Pain Physician)
