Child speech developmental norms in Greek monolinguals: whole word and consonant accuracy
Clin Linguist Phon. 2024 Apr 1:1-20. doi: 10.1080/02699206.2024.2329975. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChild phonological development in standard Greek is aptly represented by both single-case and cross-sectional studies. While some quantitative measures exist, such as the 75% criterion in the acquisition of singletons and clusters, reported norms require replication to fine-tune existing indicators, inform non-existent ones, and better reflect children's typical developmental speech in contemporary Greece. Our cross-sectional study addresses this gap, in terms of consonant inventory acquisition, and percentage accuracy of...

First imported case of Candida auris infection in Milan, Italy: genomic characterisation
ConclusionImportation ofC. auris from abroad has been previously described. We report the first case ofC. auris imported into Italy from Greece, according to phylogenetic analysis. This case reinforces the need for monitoring critically ill hospitalised patients also for fungi and addresses the need for the standardisation of susceptibility testing and strategies for diagnosis and therapy. Understanding priorities and needs for child and adolescent mental health in Greece from multiple informants: an open resource dataset
AbstractThe Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) aims to enhance mental health care capacity for children and adolescents across Greece. Considering the need for evidence-based policy, the program developed an open-resource dataset for researching the field within the country. A comprehensive, mixed-method, community-based research was conducted in 2022/2023 assessing the current state, needs, barriers, and opportunities according to multiple viewpoints. We surveyed geographically distributed samples of 1,756 caregivers, 1,201 children/adolescents, 404 schoolteachers, and 475 health professionals using val...

Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 547: Genetic Characterization of Small Ruminant Lentiviruses Isolated from Dairy Sheep in Greece
The objective of the study was to genetically characterize SRLV strains isolated from intensive dairy sheep farms in Greece and evaluate the variability of the immunodominant regions of the capsid protein. For this reason, a total of 12 SRLV-infected animals from four intensive dairy sheep farms with purebred Chios and Lacaune ewes were used for the amplification and sequencing of an 800 bp gag-pol fragment. The phylogenetic analyses revealed a breed-related circulation of strains; Chios ewes were infected with strains belonging exclusively to a separate group of genotype A, whereas strains belonging to subtype B2 were iso...

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 1547: Chemometric Analysis Evidencing the Variability in the Composition of Essential Oils in 10 Salvia Species from Different Taxonomic Sections or Phylogenetic Clades
len Skaltsa Essential oil (EO) of Salvia spp. has been widely used for culinary purposes and in perfumery and cosmetics, as well as having beneficial effects on human health. The present study aimed to investigate the quantitative and qualitative variations in EOs in wild-growing and cultivated pairs of samples from members in four Salvia sections or three clades, namely S. argentea L. (Sect. Aethiopis; Clade I-C), S. ringens Sm. (Sect. Eusphace; Clade I-D), S. verticillata L. (Sect. Hemisphace; Clade I-B), S. amplexicaulis Lam., and S. pratensis L. (Sect. Plethiosphace; Clade I-C). Furthermore, the natural variability...

Trajectories of trace element accumulation in seagrass (Posidonia oceanica) over a decade reveal the footprint of fish farming
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Mar 26. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-32910-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo evaluate the effect of trace element (TE) release from fish farms on seagrass Posidonia oceanica, we compared TE concentrations (As, Cd, Co, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, V, Zn) in shoots near fish cages (Station 'Cage') with those away from them (Station 'Control') in two fish farm facilities (Site 1 and Site 2, North Aegean Sea, Greece). We assessed the present (i.e., 2021, year of sampling) and past (reconstructed period 2012-2020) accumulation of TEs using the living compartments (leaf blades, sheaths, rhizomes, roots, epip...
