Phi Beta Kappa
Hey guys, So apparently Phi Beta Kappa is the nations oldest and most "prestigious" honors society. Word of warning, I know nothing about "greek life". But this sounds interesting, It's an invite only society and i received an invitation, so did 5 other students in my major. Has anyone heard of this society? It completely caught me off guard and i don't know why i was selected to join it. What is selection based on? How will this help me advance my professional career? Thanks guy! The pharmacy job market has long been dead
All of you guys considering going into pharmacy I sincerely want to warn you of the job outlook. I completed a PGY2 pharmacy residency last year and then applied for every pharmacy position I could find in the lower 48 states for 12 months. Not one hospital or retail pharmacy has contacted me for an interview. I have a bachelor of science undergrad degree with a 3.7 GPA. My pharmacy school GPA was 4.0. I was a member of two Greek clubs while in pharmacy school. I had two years of paid... The pharmacy job market has long been dead (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is taking Gen bio 1 and gen chem 1 at the same time too much?
I’m going to be an incoming college freshman and I’m dorming. Next semester I will be taking Gen bio and gen chem at the same time. I will only be taking one lab and the other classes that I have are creative writing, intro to psych, freshman seminar and Greek myths/Roman west art. This is about 16-17 credits in total. However, as a senior in high school I took AP Bio and AP chem at the same time so I do have some insight on both subjects. Should I drop something? Is it too much? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Unsure about adding foreign shadowing experience to application
During the summer of my freshman year of college I participated in the Atlantis Project. For those who don't know, the Atlantis Project is essentially a company that sends you abroad to shadow physicians primarily based in Europe. I went to Greece and shadowed doctors for somewhere around 100 hours. I did not participate in any hands-on medical work, merely following doctors around and observing. I am very unsure about whether to include this experience in my application or not. I did it as... Unsure about adding foreign shadowing experience to application (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Better to not call it a "Frat"?
From what I gather, greek life is generally ignored on apps, but I'm in alpha phi omega, the co-ed national community service fraternity. Should I just present this as non-clinical community service if greek letters will be off-putting? It has social parts, but it also has minimum community service requirements, all serving underprivileged parts of the city. The aspects of leadership/working with others is emphasized, but again, it is greek life.. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How conduct probation will impact me
Hello, I'm currently a Junior with a 3.92 science GPA and a 3.84 cumulative GPA. I've shadowed doctors in Budapest for 100 hours, and shadowed doctors in Greece for 50 hours. I've been a part of two research projects (2years) and presented my research twice on campus. I am in the honors college, and biology honors program. What are you looking forward to in medical school?
Last thread about this was 2 years ago, and amidst this nail-biting, neurotically-infused app season, I thought it'd be nice to get our minds off II's and whatnot. So, positive thoughts! What are you most looking forward to in medical school? A specific topic? A new city? New friends? For me, I'm most excited to be surrounded by people just as interested in science in medicine as I am. My undergraduate school is absolutely overrun by Greek life (nothing against it) and I've...
