Is it harder to get into a PhD program?
Is it more difficult to get into a PhD in Biochemestry or Genetics than an MD/DO/DDS/PharmD, etc? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I pursue masters, just apply, or DIY post bacc?
Hello, I just wanted to see what the best option for getting into med school. I had a 3.2 cgpa until my senior year. At the beginning of my senior year, I was a victim of an assault. It really took a toll over me. I withdrew from most of my classes.... I received a F in organic & my semester gpa was .59. My cgpa was a 3.0 after this semester. The next semester, I still struggled emotionally. I received a D in genetics & couldn’t graduate. My cgpa is now a 2.8. I am currently retaking... Possible to get into dental school?
So I’ve had an upward trend with science classes but for gen chem 1 I received a C I failed Calculus 1 and I’ve received a B+ for both gen bio 1+2. All other bio courses such as genetics and cell bio I’ve had an A in and both orgo 1+2 as well as physics 1+2. Is it too much of a reach to try and go to dental school. Also would admissions pay mind to someone who grew up as an immigrant/ DACA status holder and coming from a poor family/ neighborhood. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Losing Confidence - Do I Still Have a Chance?
Hey all, I've seen a lot of posts about an upward trend and ~reinvention, but not many on what to do when you aren't doing well in those upper level bio courses that were supposed to prove you can handle this material. I bombed a biochem exam yesterday and I'm not doing so hot in genetics or bio ii either. My GPAs are already barely at a 3.0 and this likely won't help. I'd think that I wasn't cut out to be a doctor but I have a 95th percentile MCAT (which means I do know... things, right?).... Losing Confidence - Do I Still Have a Chance? MCAT prepare you for medical school?
I ordered a USMLE step 1 book and browsed through it. I realized that the MCAT tests almost everything in the USMLE step 1. I always hear how the MCAT is not representative of medical school; however, it seems that the MCAT is pretty much the same. The only difference, is that there are a few more diseases (which are covered in undergraduate biochem courses and even entry level genetics). But the concept mastery is pretty much the same. In fact, I would have been better prepared for the MCAT... MCAT prepare you for medical school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Low GPA. Where do I go for pharmacy schools?
Hello everyone, I am an undergraduate in my junior year. My overall GPA is 2.75 and Science GPA is 2.8. No pharm experience. About my science classes, I retook bio 1 for the second time and bio 2 for the third time but all ended up with C. I passed chem 1 & 2 with As. Currently taking Genetics and Immunology but I think I am failing Immunology. I cannot withdraw the class because I am an international student. I am not doing very well with biology classes. I think I enjoy chemistry... Low GPA. Where do I go for pharmacy schools? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Getting yet another B
I’m not really looking for advice, I’m just here to rant. I figured a community dedicated to going to med school would be a nice place to leave this. I’m getting a B in genetics for sure. The absolute best I can do is an A- if I get 100% on the next midterm and final and all the assignments. It’s not likely, because I studied my ass off for the second midterm but oh well. I got a D. I’ve gotten a B in gen chem, B+s in calc and stats. I got an A- in intro bio lab. An A- in orgo 2 lab. I’m... Getting yet another B (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical Genetics?
Hello there, I want to ask you guys about this branch of medicine. I found it quite recently and there seems to be quite a little info about it. Most of the information I found was here in years old threads, so I decided that hopefully, I can get some new perspectives and insights. My first question obviously is if this is still a thing if I can be interested in Medical Genetics and find a job in a 10 years span. (If I can do it all). My second question is quite obvious too, which route... Medical Genetics? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I'm worry ADCOMS will think I'm Padding my GPA
Hello everyone, I am current Sophomore at a 4 years state university. My plan is to take the MCAT in the Spring of my junior year (a year from now). However, I have a question regarding the classes that I will take. I am going to take 2 research-for-credits classes, totaling 6 credits during my Junior year. I am also contemplating of doing Genetics UTA, which will give me another 3 credit during my Junior Year. The reason why I want to do UTA because I have a passion for teaching, and...
