Association between sleep duration and a new onset of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
Conclusions In women, a short sleep duration was independently associated with the onset of NAFLD, thus suggesting that an adequate sleep duration can be a promising preventive factor for the onset of NAFLD in women.PMID:38658342 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.3119-23 (Source: Internal Medicine)

Low Dose of Nickel and Benzo [a] Anthracene in Rat-Diet, Induce Apoptosis, Fibrosis, and Initiate Carcinogenesis in Liver via NF- Ƙβ Pathway
This study was designed to evaluate the carcinogenic risk and other risks associated with long-term consumption of environmentally relevant dose of nickel and benzo [a] anthracene in rats. Thirty-six (36) male rats weighing between 80 and 100 g were assigned into 6 groups of 6 animals each; normal, nickel-, and benzo [a] anthracene-exposed groups for 12 and 24 weeks, respectively. Micronucleus and comet analyses were done in the blood, liver, and bone marrow. Liver function, redox, and inflammatory markers (AST, ALT, GGT, SOD, GSH, MDA, protein carbonyl, protein thiol, total protein, IL-10, 1L-1β, TNF-α, TGF-β NF-Ƙβ, ...

Hepatic lipid droplet-associated proteome changes distinguish dietary-induced fatty liver from glucose tolerance in male mice
Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab. 2024 Apr 24. doi: 10.1152/ajpendo.00013.2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFatty liver is characterized by the expansion of lipid droplets (LDs) and is associated with the development of many metabolic diseases. We assessed the morphology of hepatic LDs and performed quantitative proteomics in lean, glucose-tolerant mice compared to high-fat diet (HFD) fed mice that displayed hepatic steatosis and glucose intolerance as well as high-starch diet (HStD) fed mice who exhibited similar levels of hepatic steatosis but remained glucose tolerant. Both HFD and HStD-fed mice had more and larger LDs t...

Comprehensive study of the interplay between immunological and metabolic factors in hepatic steatosis
Int Immunopharmacol. 2024 Apr 23;133:112091. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112091. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe pathophysiology of hepatic steatosis is thoroughly reviewed in this comprehensive report, with particular attention to the complex interactions between inflammatory pathways, insulin resistance, lipid metabolism, metabolic dysregulation, and immunological responses in the liver including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The study highlights the role of immune cell regulation in disease progression and explores the potential of i...
