Depression!?
Hello, I got my dental license 6 months ago, I have been practicing for 5 months, earning a decent amount ... but I am feeling very bad, stress, depression ... I wonder if it is normal or should I seek professional help. Dentistry is horrible, everything is production, money, it is f .... factory .... sorry it is sad but it is real life in this industry. 99214 vs 99215 questions/frustrations
I may not be fully up to speed on the new billing code criteria for 2021. My basic understanding is that billing on complexity, the subjective and objective don't matter anymore, it's all about the medical decision making. And basically 2+ diagnoses of chronic conditions is a 99214. My frustration lies in the fact if I see someone with depression, anxiety, and suicidality, I'm dealing with a potentially severe situation. The suicide risk assessment takes time and carries risk, and a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Burrell New Mexico
I was a student of Burrell in New Mexico for 2 years before I decided to leave due to the atrocious culture. During my time I had attempted to kill myself and have come to find out another student in my shoes completed suicide last night. The utter lack of support and isolation is dumbfounding. I make this post because I strongly strongly suggest not going to the institution. There is much, much more to be said, but i think the fact that mental health is a common factor that isn't being... Medical/Mental Health LOA & Step 1 - Need Advice
Hey guys, I'm an M2 and need some advice regarding taking a medical LOA for mental health reasons and taking Step 1. For some background info: I was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder in undergrad, started treatment at the time, and have been relatively stable on the same medication for it for ~9 years now (I'm a non-trad student). I definitely still experience depressive and hypomanic episodes, but since I've been on-treatment the symptoms are relatively "minor"/muted-- I can definitely... In-State LSU or Columbia? Desperate for Advice
I have finally gotten off the waitlist at one of my dream schools, Columbia, but as I go to pay my deposit, the daunting reality of the cost difference is starting to make me depressed. I am in-state for LSU so the total cost will be about 250k and my cost of living will be extremely low due to my family being there. My mom is also an LSU alum and knows at the very least I will come out with better hands than 95% of dental schools. I wanted to go to Columbia because I am a bit of an... Tulane vs. Buffalo (Waitlist)
Buffalo I’m waitlisted at Buffalo and trying to decide if I should send a letter of intent… Pros: Closer to family (1 hr flight, 7 hour drive) Many opportunities for research Lots of community engagement In state tuition and low cost of living Recently adopted P/F grading Cons: Internal rankings Maybe I’m projecting, but the students don’t seem very happy I’m worried Buffalo winters will make me depressed Total COA per year...
