does promotion + new clinical experience worth updating/letter of intent?
I keep hearing conflicting thing. So originally I felt like update letter is not necessary, but I recently got promoted to senior level as software engineer, and I started a clinical experience in the ER couple weeks ago. I think the only weakness in my app is lack of clinical experience during COVID (I think 300 hours of suicide hotline plus 100 hours as covid screener + 50 hours of virtual shadowing). I'm not sure if these are significant enough for update, or if they are, if I should wait... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chances of matching for internship with academic dismissal on record
Hi everyone, During my first attempt at my clinical psychology degree, I was dismissed due to not making sufficient progress on my thesis and poor academic performance. I had little support or guidance in the program, struggled to manage my personal stressors, and became very depressed. I have since taken responsibility for my mistakes and learned from the experience. However, I still feel great shame about it and find it hard to talk about with others, which is why I am here. After my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Least Selective Prelim medicine and Categorical Medicine residency programs?
Hi everyone, I would really appreciate some advice. I went to a top 30 Med school and graduated in 2021. I was a mediocre Med student. My step1 220 and step2 230... Mediocre I know.. I failed my first semester of college, then I transferred to cc. Should I forget about dental?
Hi everyone, I failed my first semester of college (1.08 gpa) due to depression after my dad's sudden death. I have since transferred to community college and am doing well now. Do I still have a shot at getting into dental school? Background: Fall 2020, I began my freshman year at a 4 year university. I was severely depressed. I don’t know what I was thinking or doing at the time. Whenever I try to remember this period of my life, it’s like a black hole in my memory. I don’t know what... Schools that values more research over clinical experience?
Hi, I'm currently trying to add school list. My MCAT is 524(132, 128, 132, 132) and my sGPA is 3.78, and cGPA is 3.69, my hook is that I want to address LGBT health disparities since my research and volunteering are all LGBT related. But I know I have some weaknesses, mostly about 100 hours of clinical volunteering at LGBT health clinic, and 300 hours at suicide hotline, which I know is a gray area during covid even though I work with social workers and on call psychatrist. I know I'm... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
