AMBOSS for Shelf Exams & MS3?
So AMBOSS gave a presentation to our med school today, and from what I gathered, it's designed to be a comprehensive, single resource for MS3, including a Qbank and Library. They are based in Germany and used as the primary resource for students and physicians across Europe. There's a lot of convenient features - highlighting, overlays on imaging, high yield modes for the library, etc. - but I can't imagine using this in place of Step Up to Medicine or UWorld or Pretest and so on... CASPer Scenario For Discussion #23
While walking to your class on campus, you have just realized that you have forgotten your chemistry textbook in the library. When you go back to get it, the person who you were sitting next to has the exact same book as you in their bag. You can't see your textbook anywhere. How would you approach the situation? Let's say that the person does admit to stealing your textbook, and their reasoning is that they couldn't afford to buy one on their own. Would you let... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How accurate is this statement for DO reapplications:
"Assuming you didn't get in anywhere previously, schools will only know whether you are reapplying to their program, but not others. Moreover, they can only see your previous application if they saved it in their database. However, med schools to which you are applying for the first time will not know whether you previously applied." from shemmassian consulting. What are you thoughts on how accurate this statement is? Programs that do not participate in NRMP match
What are your opinions on psychiatry residency programs that do not participate in NRMP match? Using the FRIEDA database, I've found 21 US psychiatry programs that fit this criterion. I've searched the web for some insight on these programs, but information was few and far between. Specifically, what are the "risks" or disadvantages if any of applying to (and possibly attending) these programs? How does one go about applying to these programs? As I am an IMG applying to psychiatry, I feel... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4.0/509 Asian Applicant, retake or apply
Just got my MCAT score back and it was a 509 (129/123/129/128). Pretty disappointed with this score. My AAMC FL average was 511 which makes it reasonable to have scored 509, however my FL3 and FL4 were 515 and 516 respectively. I am especially worried about the 123 CARS. State of residence: Florida cGPA/sGPA is a 4.0 MCAT: 509 129/123/129/128 Undergraduate institution: average state school EC's are as follows: 200 volunteer hours as a volunteer medical assistant 100 volunteer hours at a... I always struggle
I am an M2 student. I just keep struggling on exams and quizzes in my classes so it’s really frustrating. I’m pretty sure I am at the bottom of the class and I almost failed a module. I took an exam today and I scored below average. Everyone in my class gets either A or B in classes and yet I always get Cs. I study literally all day everyday in the library going through lecture powerpoints to make sure I learn and understand everything after listening to recorded lectures. I don’t use anki... Opioid Prescribing Resources
I’m in a fellowship where we don’t get a whole lot of exposure to prescribing opioids. Any recommendations for resources where I can learn more about the basics at least? Specifically - ideal candidates for chronic opioid therapy, regulations regarding how often patients need be seen, requirements re: urine screens and checking prescription databases, and overall best practices to stop the feds from busting thru your front door. Mask during online interview?
Hello all, I have been fortunate enough to receive an MD interview. The interview is online, however, I plan to attend it in a public albeit private area (i.e room in a library). My state has an indoor mask mandate and I would want no issues. Is it okay to wear a mask in an online interview? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Where to find a database of Standardized Patient Scripts?
Hello, M1 here. Our school has standardized patient encounters almost every week. I think they are great, and would love to practice more. A decent number of my classmates are interested in practicing some basic history taking/vitals/oldcarts type of stuff. My question is: does anyone know of a resource that has some pre-made patient scripts we could use? A simple google search has turned nothing useful. Or maybe there is an easier way to go about it? Would love to hear some... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
