It finally happened
It's 5 AM, I am driving my sleepy self to the library through the morning darkness to get a head start on studying. The roads are empty, the traffic lights are flashing yellow, and there is a sprinkle of rain giving the road a slippery surface. I turn the traction control off, rev up the motor, release the clutch, and spin the tires for two blocks with a massive grin on my face. My rear-view mirror lights up with a red and blue flash, my heart drops, I pull over to the side of the road.... It finally happened (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Databases and p-values
I have a stats question and wanted to see if anyone can drop some knowledge. I am using a national database and am looking at mortality rates for different procedures at different hospitals. The database I am using approximates a 20% stratified sample of discharges from hospitals. When I am analyzing the data, I have a question regarding p-values. For example: If I am comparing mortality for a procedure in hospital X and hospital Y. Procedure: 50 procedures performed/5 deaths in hospital... Epidemiology study/prep material recommendations
Hey everyone. I've been trying to do some leisure reading on epi and other public health related topics so I'll hopefully be sort of ahead/prepared for my epi mph in the fall. Are there any textbooks/websites/research papers/anything that y'all would recommend I read? Anything that in your opinion every epidemiologist/public health professional should have in their library? I'm open to both free and paid stuff (not too expensive though, I didn't have to buy any hundred dollar textbooks... Epidemiology study/prep material recommendations (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Family Physician looking for Urgent Care / Fast Track / other work in the ER
Hey folks I would like to work in the Fast Track in the ER, love working with other colleagues (one reason I want to work in the ER rather than urgent care on my own), also want to see higher acuity patients and have the ER Doc's in case I can want to consult them (level 3 patients like headaches, abdo pain, chest pain etc ) It is hard to find these jobs in databases (practice match etc), I have looked under jobs for Family Docs and ER physicians and I only got 1 hit that was out of date... Best way to find out if a residency is DO friendly?
Besides going to individual residency websites and scanning through current residents... is there a solid, up to date database with residencies that have accepted DOs on a year to year basis? Just a first year here but I'm curious. Doximity seems to be the solid but even that only filters residency programs that are AOA-accredited (Source: Student Doctor Network)
