Is my time best spent in this clinical research coordinator role?
Hi - I am graduating next month and applying May 2023. Taking the MCAT March 2023. By graduation time, I will have had 300 hrs of clinical database research (scanning pt charts and building database), 380 hrs wetlab research in microbiology (mix of tech tasks to help grad students + one self designed project funded by university grant), and about 450 hrs direct patient care experience (psych tech). I am currently in the micro lab where I have been since January 2022, and have come to realize...

Random ER Metrics Thread
(This can be a random ER metric thread.)
We got notice recently from admin that we "order too many MRIs". LOL. I have no clue if we order too many. I did see from our internal metric database website that on average 1.2% of all patients who show up to the ED get an MRI ordered by an ER MD.
How does that compare to your ED? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Data Entry: Clinical/Medical Volunteering?
I'm a nontrad applicant who's volunteered several hundred hours to manually screening patient records for entry into various international databases. I've also created one such database myself going through the entire IRB process. Both of these activities are obviously "clinical" in a broad sense, but I'm not sure whether these count as clinical volunteering hours. I know the rule of thumb is that you have to be close enough to patients to smell them and this largely doesn't fit the bill...

Is it my school or does every medical student struggle to find full text articles for lit reviews?
I'm at a fairly large DO school and we have plenty of database access through our library, but I'm still having access issues finding full text articles. Is this something every medical student faces or is my school particularly bad about this?
I want to know if this is common, because if not, I can help make this known to admin and possibly increase our database access. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
