Essential Med Student Furniture
Some questions on what furniture is important to get, and study habits!
1) Home vs. Library Study
Through out undergrad, I always felt that I paid better attention and had quality study time in the library vs. home alone. I could always focus better when not at home. However, I would like to mix up some home study time as well.
Will I get "too tired/burned out" if I do most of my studies at the library, haha! ??
I would love to hear your thoughts if you like me prefer...

Listing ongoing research experience in AMCAS
Hi,
I am filling out my research experience in AMCAS but I am a little bit confused about listing ongoing research.
I am currently working on a research project with a cancer research. However, we are still at the early stages of the research (Specifically, we have IRB approval and currently working to sort out data from a national database). I am working on exporting the data and sorting them in a meaningful manner.
- Should I include this as a research experience?
- How should I...

Open database with > 18,000 cancer genomes
For those of you doing cancer research, take a look at this:

How cool is that? Maybe use it to impress your PI and get a good LOR. Glad to see the cancer moonshot's still kicking. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Type of paper matter?
So, I'm the first author on a multi-institutional database paper on the safety and efficacy of a certain class of experimental treatments. I've heard a lot about how lab papers are much better regarded than clinical papers. From my experience in the lab, I can see why. However, considering that this is a relatively high profile paper and it should get into a pretty good journal (should be submitting in about a week's time), how well will this stack up? Thank you!
Edit: I will also be...

School list help (no research at all)
I do not have any research experience but I have a pretty strong GPA (cGPA 3.96, sGPA 3.93) and MCAT (517). I'm an ORM California resident, just graduated.
My ECs are also lacking. As of now, I have: about 350 hours of clinical volunteering, I will start working as a PT dermatology medical assistant in a week or two, and I am working to bring a program to a local library that aims to help 1st and 2nd graders that are behind in their readings for a weekly non-clinical volunteering...

Need some encouraging words?
I am scheduled to take my DAT the end of July. Tomorrow, I will be starting my fourth week of consistent studying. I have been putting in anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a day. As each day passes, I feel more upset and discouraged. It is tough isolating myself in the library for this many hours without any sort of human contact and just being immersed in my studies. I was going to the gym to help with the anxiety that I am feeling, but it is becoming harder and harder to wake up early in the...
