Viruses, Vol. 14, Pages 2511: Weed Hosts Represent an Important Reservoir of Turnip Yellows Virus and a Possible Source of Virus Introduction into Oilseed Rape Crop
umar Kundu Turnip yellows virus (TuYV) is one of the most important pathogens of oilseed rape worldwide. The virus has a large host range including many crop species (e.g., oilseed rape, pea, chickpea) and weeds from more than twenty plant families. Other than oilseed rape, we detected TuYV in many commonly grown weed species that share the fields and vegetation period together with canola crops in Czech and Slovak Republics. TuYV was detected by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in at least 26 species including main crop hosts (oilseed rape), intercrops and weeds such as Amaranthus retroflexus, ...

Biochemical, physiological, and growth evaluation of different chickpea genotypes under varying salinity regimes
Braz J Biol. 2022 Nov 4;82:e268350. doi: 10.1590/1519-6984.268350. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTBiochemical and physiological parameters, growth, and yield of field crops especially salt sensitive crops like chickpea are affected adversely by salinity in arid to semi-arid regions. To investigate the effect of different salinity levels on growth, biochemical and physiological parameters of chickpea genotypes, a pot experiment following CRD, two factor factorial design, was conducted in the glasshouse at the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, Pakistan. Ten (10) kg of soil...

Endophytic Bacillus subtilis antagonize soil-borne fungal pathogens and suppress wilt complex disease in chickpea plants (Cicer arietinum L.)
The present study aimed to identify potential endophytic bacteria antagonistic against three soil-borne fungal pathogens, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium rolfsii, and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri causing root rot, collar rot, and fungal wilt diseases in chickpea plants, respectively. A total of 255 bacterial endophytes were isolated from the leaves, stems, and roots of seven different crop plants (chickpea, tomato, wheat, berseem, mustard, potato, and green pea). The dual culture-based screening for antifungal properties indicated that three endophytic isolates had strong inhibition (>50%) against all three pathogens ...

Chemical Composition and Evaluation of Antifungal and Insecticidal Activities of Essential Oils Extracted from < em > Jambosa caryophyllus < /em > (Thunb.) Nied: Clove Buds
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2022 Oct 19;2022:4675016. doi: 10.1155/2022/4675016. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTJambosa caryophyllus has been used in traditional phytotherapy as a treatment against infections. In the present work, essential oils extracted from clove buds (Jambosa caryophyllus ) (EO-JC) were investigated for their composition, antifungal, and insecticidal properties. Extraction of EO-JC was performed by use of hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus, and the EOs were analyzed by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Antifungal activity of EO-JC was evaluated by the use of s...

GSE147831 Expression atlas of chickpea during development
In this study, we aim to present a global view of transcriptome dynamics in different tissues/organs/developmental stage in chickpea. We generated about ~31-95 million reads from each of 94 libraries representing 32 different tissues/organs using Illumina platform. We generated a hybrid assembly of these data along with PacBio data to produce full-length transcriptome assembly. We mapped the reads to the transcriptome assembly for estimation of the abundance of coding and long non-coding transcripts in different tissue samples. The transcriptome dynamics was studied by differential and tissue-specific expression analyses, ...
