Cinnamaldehyde ameliorates dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis in mice by modulating TLR4/NF- κB signaling pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome activation
In this study, network pharmacology and molecular docking analyses were introduced to predict the potential targets and mechanism of CIN against UC. The therapeutic effect and the predicted targets of CIN on UC were further validated by in vivo and in vitro experiments. Seven intersection targets shared by CIN and UC were obtained, and four hub targets, i.e., toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), transcription factor p65 (NF-κB), NF-kappa-B inhibitor alpha (IκBα), prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (COX2) were acquired, which were mainly involved in NF-κB, tumour necrosis factor (TNF), Toll-like receptor and NOD-like receptor signali...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 8138: Syringaresinol Alleviates Oxaliplatin-Induced Neuropathic Pain Symptoms by Inhibiting the Inflammatory Responses of Spinal Microglia
This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between spinal microglial activation and OIPN and explore the analgesic effects of syringaresinol, a phytochemical from the bark of Cinnamomum cassia, on OIPN symptoms. The causality between microglial activation and OIPN was investigated by assessing cold and mechanical allodynia in mice after intrathecal injection of the serum supernatant from a BV-2 microglial cell line treated with oxaliplatin. The microglial inflammatory response was measured based on inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p-ERK), and phospho...

Cardioprotective effect of cinnamaldehyde pretreatment on ischemia/ reperfusion injury via inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation and gasdermin D mediated cardiomyocyte pyroptosis
Chem Biol Interact. 2022 Oct 29;368:110245. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2022.110245. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCinnamaldehyde (CD) is one of the most important active compounds derived from Cinnamomum cassia and showed multiple biological activities. Accumulating evidence has shown that the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome significantly contributes to sterile inflammatory response and gasdermin D (GSDMD)-mediated pyroptosis in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI). Whether CD has any influence on NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pyroptosis du...

A Phase II, Randomized, Double-Blind, Double-Dummy, Active-Controlled Clinical Trial to Investigate the Efficacy and Safety of NW Low-Glu ® in Patients Newly Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
CONCLUSIONS: After 3 months of treatment, NW Low-Glu® was noninferior to metformin in reducing HbA1c and 2 hr PPG, while leading to significantly higher weight reduction in newly diagnosed T2DM patients. It was also safe and well tolerated.PMID:36204125 | PMC:PMC9532066 | DOI:10.1155/2022/9176026 (Source: Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine)

Chemical profiling and identification of anti-osteoporosis chemical-markers of < em > Cinnamomum cassia (L.) < /em > presl extracts using GC-MS and spectrum-activity analyses
Nat Prod Res. 2022 Sep 13:1-5. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2022.2123480. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCinnamomum cassia (L.) Presl (cinnamon), an important folk medicine is widely used to prevent osteoporosis for long time in China. Our study aimed to investigate the anti-osteoporosis activity and mechanisms of cinnamon extracts obtained by supercritical CO2 extraction (SFE) and identify activity associated chemical components by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The cinnamon SFE exhibited superior anti-osteoporosis efficacy in an ovariectomised mice model to common alcohol extracts. It could induce calcified nodules and AL...
