Cinnamomum cassia (L.) J.Presl Alleviates Allergic Responses in Asthmatic Mice via Suppression of MAPKs and MMP-9
The prevalence of asthma is gradually increasing, and endangers human health. Many therapeutic agents have been developed to address this concern. Cinnamomum cassia (L.) J.Presl is a traditional herbal remedy in China, Japan, and Korea and used mainly to control common cold, cough, pneumonitis and fever in Donguibogam, a medical encyclopedia of Korea. Therefore, we investigated whether C. cassia (L.) J.Presl extract (CCE) confers protective effects on asthma model induced by ovalbumin (OVA). The animals were received intraperitoneal administration of OVA on day 1 and 14, and then subjected to OVA inhalation from day 21–2...

Preparation, characterization, and biological activity of Cinnamomum cassia essential oil nano-emulsion
In this study, Cinnamomum cassia Essential oil nano-emulsion (CCEO-NE) was successfully synthesized by the oil-in-water method and characterized by standard analytical methods, including dynamic light scattering (DLS), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that the synthesized CCEO is spherical, smooth in surface, and uniform in shape, with an average particle size of 221.8 ± 1.95 nm, which is amorphous. In this experiment, by simulating the digestion of CCEO-NE in the gastrointestinal tract, it was found that CCEO-NE was undigested in the oral cavity, mainly in t...

A Traditional Chinese Medicine Plant Extract Prevents Alcohol-Induced Osteopenia
In this study, Balb/c male mice were orally administrated alcohol (3.2 g/kg/day) with/without TCM herbal extracts (0.125 g/kg, 0.25 g/kg, or 0.5 g/kg) by gavage. Our results showed that after 50 days of oral administration, TCM herbal extracts prevented alcohol-induced osteopenia demonstrated by μ-CT bone morphological analysis in young adults and middle-aged/old Balb/c male mice. Biochemical analysis demonstrated that chronic alcohol consumption inhibits bone formation and has a neutral impact on bone resorption, suggesting that TCM herbal extracts (Jing extracts) mitigate the alcohol-induced abnormal bone metabolis...
