Brenner Borderline Ovarian Tumor: A Case Series and Literature Review
CONCLUSIONS: Peritoneal staging surgery is not required because all patients reported had stage I disease. One recurrence occurred. When reviewing all the 82 cases reported in the literature (including ours), 9% had previous history or synchronous urothelial tumor, suggesting the need to carefully check for urological disease in patients with BBOT.PMID:33768396 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-021-09879-y (Source: Ann Oncol)

Amplification of MDM2 and Loss of p16 Expression: Do They Have a Role in Malignant Transformation of Ovarian Brenner Tumor?
CONCLUSIONS: We are the first to report immunohistochemical expression of MDM2 in an MBT. Amplification of MDM2 and loss of p16 expression may have a role in malignant transformation of BT. PMID: 32322877 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)

Uncommon ovarian epithelial tumours
Epithelial ovarian tumours represent the most common type of ovarian tumour. Most of malignant cases represent high-grade serous, clear cell and endometrioid carcinomas; borderline serous and mucinous tumours of intestinal type are less common. This review focuses on the uncommon or rare epithelial tumours of the ovary which include borderline and malignant Brenner tumours, the recently-described mesonephric-like carcinoma of the ovary, and primary ovarian neuroendocrine tumours, with emphasis on helpful and diagnostic features. Extraovarian Brenner tumor in the uterus: a case report and review of literature
Extraovarian Brenner tumors (EOBTs) are extremely rare and can be observed incidentally in both female and male patients, raising concerns regarding the origin of Brenner tumors. (Source: Diagnostic Pathology)

Detailed overview on rare malignant ovarian tumors.
Abstract The group of rare malignant ovarian tumors includes the group of germ cell tumors, sex cords stromal ovarian tumors, small cell carcinoma, malignant Brenner tumors, rare epithelial tumors such as mucinous carcinoma, clear cell carcinoma, or low-grade serous carcinoma, as well as ovarian carcinosarcoma. Together they comprise about 10% of all ovarian tumors. Due to their low prevalence and their heterogeneity, data and treatment recommendations are limited. Even though all ovarian tumors are staged according to the FIGO staging of epithelial ovarian tumors, treatment differs especially in germ cell...

Mechanisms of C-myc oncogenic activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
CONCLUSIONS: Primary ovarian SCC is a rare entity with poor prognosis, compared to serous carcinoma. Treatment is usually extrapolated from classical ovarian carcinoma algorithms, including surgical management combined with adjuvant chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy. Further investigations are needed to define optimal treatment, such as chemotherapy regimens and the role of radiotherapy and lymph node dissection. Synchronous benign Brenner & #39;s tumor of ovary with leiomyoma and endometrial adenocarcinoma in a postmenopausal female
We present a case of 50-year-old postmenopausal women who presented with coexisting incidental Brenner tumor with leiomyoma and Endometrial adenocarcinoma. Only few authors have reported similar tumor occurrence in the past. (Source: Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics)

Ovarian Combined Brenner Tumor, Mucinous Cystadenoma and Struma Ovarii: First Report of a Rare Combination
We report an ovarian neoplasm with components of Brenner tumor, mucinous cystadenoma and struma ovarii. As far as we are aware, this combination has not been previously reported. We speculate on the possible histogenesis of this combination of elements. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Pathology)

Borderline Brenner Tumor: A Review of the Literature.
Abstract Brenner tumors arise from ovarian epithelium, accounting for approximately 5% of benign ovarian epithelial tumors. The World Health Organization classification groups them into benign, borderline, and malignant on the basis of proliferation and invasiveness, and borderline Brenner tumor is defined as "displaying epithelial proliferation beyond that seen in benign Brenner's tumor, but lacking stromal invasion." Borderline Brenner tumors are rare. Fewer than 60 cases have been reported. The more recent articles mostly focus on pathogenesis. We reviewed the literature on borderline Brenner tumor and ...

Malignant Brenner tumor of the ovary: Case series and review of treatment strategies
Publication date: Available online 12 February 2019Source: Gynecologic Oncology ReportsAuthor(s): Yingao Zhang, Allison Staley, Katherine Tucker, Leslie H. ClarkAbstractMalignant Brenner tumor (MBTs) is a rare histological subtype of epithelial ovarian cancer, accounting for <0.05% of all ovarian neoplasms. As such, current evidence on the treatment of MBTs is predominantly limited to case studies and small case series. To add to existing literature, we performed a retrospective review of 10 cases of MBT diagnosed and treated at a single institution between 1999 and 2018.For the 10 cases included in our cohort, the med...

Ovarian mucinous cystic tumor associated with sarcomatous mural nodule and benign Brenner tumor: A case report and literature review
We report a case of ovarian mucinous cystic tumor associated with sarcomatous mural nodule and benign Brenner tumor and accompanied by nodular histiocytic aggregates in the greater omentum. Patient concerns: A 60-year-old postmenopausal woman was presented with a history of one month of lower abdominal discomfort, abdominal distension, nausea, and vomiting. A physical examination revealed a hard, palpable mass with mild tenderness in her right lower abdomen. Diagnoses: The mucinous tumor was solid and cystic and contained benign, borderline, and malignant elements. Within the solid areas, two nodules representing ple...
