Chiropractic spinal manipulation and likelihood of tramadol prescription in adults with radicular low back pain: a retrospective cohort study using US data
Conclusions This study found that US adults initially receiving CSM for radicular LBP had a reduced likelihood of receiving a tramadol prescription over 1-year follow-up. These findings should be corroborated by a prospective study to minimise residual confounding. (Source: BMJ Open)

Body awareness disturbances in patients with low back pain: a systematic review
ConclusionsBody perception disturbances in LBP seem to be a promising path that needs to be further explored, with the ultimate goal of developing treatment contents targeting body awareness as a more comprehensive and valid evaluation and therapeutic method.Trial registrationThe registration number was CRD42021235934. Recent clinical practice guidelines for the management of low back pain: a global comparison
Low back pain (LBP) is a significant health problem worldwide, with a lifetime prevalence of 84% in the general adult population. To rationalise the management of LBP, clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) have ... (Source: BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders)

Changes in Spino-pelvic Sagittal Parameters after Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion and Their Correlation with Clinical Outcome
CONCLUSION: The postoperative spine-pelvis sagittal parameters were significantly improved compared with the preoperative ones, and the changes of the spine-pelvis sagittal parameters before and after the operation were correlated with the clinical outcomes, among which the differences of LL and FH had the strongest correlation with the improvement rates of ODI and VAS scores. OLIF effectively improved spinal-pelvic sagittal parameters and clinical outcomes in degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis, with changes in LL and FH showing the strongest correlation with patient-reported outcome improvements. An oblique lateral int...

Sacroiliitis in inflammatory bowel disease on abdominal computed tomography: prevalence, misses, and associated factors
CONCLUSION: Physicians should carefully evaluate SI joints on abdominal CT in patients with IBD to enable early detection of sacroiliitis, potentially leading to an early diagnosis of axSpA. In addition, if patients with IBD present with back pain, the possibility of sacroiliitis should be considered.PMID:38686835 | DOI:10.1080/03009742.2024.2337453 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology)

Microwave ablation combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty for treating painful non-small cell lung cancer with spinal metastases under real-time temperature monitoring
CONCLUSIONS: MWA combined with PVP can significantly relieve pain and improve patients' quality of life, which implied this is an effective treatment option for painful NSCLC with spinal metastases. Additionally, its efficacy should be further verified through the mid- and long-term studies.PMID:38687923 | DOI:10.4103/jcrt.jcrt_1074_23 (Source: Cell Research)

Associations between back pain incidence, and physical activity and sedentary behaviours: A prospective cohort study with data from over 365,000 participants
CONCLUSION: Physical activity was related to a reduced risk of back pain incidence (except over-high vigorous physical activity). Substituting sedentary behaviours with physical activities reduced the risk of future back pain.PMID:38687159 | DOI:10.2519/jospt.2024.12338 (Source: Health Physics)

The effect of graded activity and pain education after lumbar spinal fusion on sedentary behavior 3 and 12 months post-surgery: a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Compared with usual care, GAPE had no effect on short-term changes in sedentary behaviour but GAPE had a statistically, but possibly not clinically effect on sedentary behaviour 12 months after LSF. Further, the behavioural intervention was safe to perform.PMID:38685291 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2024.04.005 (Source: Health Physics)

Changes in Spinal Instability After Conventional Radiotherapy for Painful Vertebral Bone Metastases
In conclusion, there was improvement of pain, and recalcification results in regaining spinal stability over time after RT although vertebral body collapse and malalignment occur in some irradiated vertebrae. Clinicians should pay attention to PLISE in predicting continuous potentially unstable/unstable spine.PMID:38686892 | DOI:10.1177/10732748241250219 (Source: Cancer Control)
