MCAT Prep Advice Please!!
Hello, I am planning on taking my MCAT April 29th 2023. I want to start studying December 1st since my semester will be over. So from 12/01 to 04/28 will be my study period. I have all the Kaplan books, Anki, jack sparrow and ortho528 flashcards. I am wondering if I should register for the blueprint course or I can use the Kaplan books and maybe get the AAMC official prep bundle. The blueprint course is pretty expensive, so I was wondering if it's a waste of money or really worth it? Or I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SDN Situational Judgment Test Survey - What do you think?
SDN and our parent organization, HPSA (Health Professional Student Association (HPSA)) are interested in learning what you think about the increasing prevalence of situational judgment tests such as Altus Casper, AAMC PREview, and other platforms in the admissions processes for health professional schools. Please provide your input on this survey: 2022 HPSA SJT/Casper poll Thank you for participating in this poll! We plan to present findings during the HPSA SJT presentation at the UCD Pre-health conference in October 2022 and subsequent pub...

The best full length tests
Hey everyone I have not started doing full lengths but I will soon. How many Full Lengths do you think I should squeeze in before my Exam (August hopefully)? Also, I know AAMC has a couple of full length exams but where else would I be able to purchase more full lengths realistic to the MCAT exam (Heard KAPLAN isnt the best lol) Thanks! Planning to Void 9/9 MCAT, Considering Withdrawing but Primary Application Already Verified for Both TMDSAS and AACOMAS
So given my AAMC full length scores I will more than likely not get a score at or above 500 on my MCAT and will be voiding it to retake in January. Currently sitting at around 489-491 from my practice exams which I know just won't cut it. I kept pushing back my mcat date since June and was only left with a month to actually study with a busy full-time night shift schedule as mental health tech(will be dropping hours and not work overtime), on top of being unmedicated for my ADHD for nearly... Why are so many premeds applying now of all times?
M4 here. Not gonna belabor this but it's an open secret the job market for industry careers in the US is better than ever seen in history. That said, last year the greatest delta of increased applicants was also seen by far: https://www.aamc.org/media/9576/download Now its become a meme-worthy acceptance rate to at least one school of 37.9% (ie likely half of that percent don't have any sort of option-weighing opportunity of any kind). Can anyone speculate why this is happening? Do... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Bottom Scorer on CASPer and PREview. Should I apply to other schools?
Well everyone, I did it! I scored in the 1st quartile on CASPer AND got a 1 on the AAMC PreView. I have no idea how this happened, but it did. I know there isn't a lot of information out there about how these scores are used in the admissions process, but 8 of the 20 schools I've applied to will see one of these scores (I have already been rejected from 1 of the 8). Even though I feel like the rest of my application is strong, I don't think I like those odds. I'm a reapplicant and want to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How did you feel after leaving academia for private practice?
I currently am junior faculty at a major academic institution, making above the AAMC average for my rank (although not nearly as much as I could in PP). I do a mix of inpatient/outpatient, small amount of neuromodulation, and teaching. Compared to my colleagues, I probably have a better work/life balance in terms of the mix of things that I do. That being said, I still cover several weeks and do call throughout the year. Lately, the acuity has started to be quite draining and now a few years... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I skip AAMC qpacks?
I took aamc FL1 last week and got a 493 after doing Kaplan and anki for 4 months with little practice questions. I pushed my test back to 7/29 and I’m only going to focus on AAMC and Uglobe to see if it helps. FL1 score breakdown: 122/125/121/125. I’m enjoying the cars qpack and I’m getting most of the questions correct as I progress so I’ll stick with that. In terms of b/b, c/p, and p/s, should I skip those qpack and focus on uglobe? I’m looking to score in the 503-505 range to get into... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is doing the AAMC CARS qPacks for the second time a bad idea?
I used to be awful at CARS, I got 121 last time in March, I've been doing Uearth Cars for the last two months (a couple of passages every day & I got 77% overall). I haven't look at the CARS Q pack 1 &2 since March and right now I'm doing very well on them. Although I don't remember the questions and answers, I worry that I'm not actually doing well & I'm biased to the answers. Has anybody done badly on them for the second time or after some time without practice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question on MCAT retake update to submitted/verified AACOMAS application?
So, I took the MCAT back in June and received a 505. My pacing completely fell apart relative to my AAMC FLs. So, I double-checked myself on content knowledge and, determining that the knowledge wasn't the problem, drilled pacing for a month and retook it on 7/16. For my retake, I actually finished the sections on time, and I feel vastly more confident about the pending score. That said, my applications are ready to submit, and I know the verification process takes some time. So... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I just go straight to AAMC CARS question packs or do more UEarth/Jack Westin first?
Hi guys! I started working on CARS this week and have been doing Jack Westin and UEarth so far. I've been averaging around ~80% on Jack Westin (200 questions) and slightly better on UEarth (50 questions) but I've read that these scores aren't representative or even a reasonable predictor of scores for AAMC resources and spending too much time with third party resources has conditioned some people to become too used to their sometimes illogical logic, particularly for JW. My anticipated... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are these MCAT resources Legit? Are they Helpful? Are they a Scam?
Hello! First time poster, long time shadow lurker… I plan on taking the MCAT sometime next year, so I am trying to look into the different prep materials early on. Logically purchasing a set of the typical books (either Kaplan or Exam Krackerz) is a must, while the AAMC and/or UWorld question banks seem to be some of the most recommended investments for sure. However, has anyone ever used any of the materials offered by 30DayMCAT, MCAT Prep, or Course_Correction? I found each of these while... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MD School List
This is the list of DOs I’m thinking of applying to. Are there any high ranking/good schools that accept OOS (Utah resident) that I’m missing, or any problems with that you know of with the schools on the list? c3.65 GPA and currently waiting on MCAT score but averaged 510 on AAMC tests so I should be above average for those schools (with exception of Chicago COM and DMU COM) even if I drop a few points on my actual score. ECs are a solid mix. More so just wanting to research which DO... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
