Introductory Psychology class or any Psychology class for med school
I was planning to take a pharmacology class this semester, but I'm thinking of switching it to a psychology class. I took an AP Psychology class but just learn on AAMC that some schools won't accept it, so I'm thinking of taking a 400 level psych class to fulfill the psychology requirement. Does any one or any admin know if this is acceptable or does it have to be an introductory psychology 100? @LizzyM, @chilly_md, @wysdoc Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chances at a 520+?
Hello all! I'm a couple of months into my prep and have taken three practice tests. Here is my breakdown: - NS HL diagnostic (taken beginning of October): 499 (126/122/125/126) - AAMC FL1 Scored (taken end of December): 510 (128/124/130/128) - NS FL1 (taken today): 509 (127/126/128/128) My test date is on March 24th. I'm currently working through UWorld (I have about 1/3 of it finished) and really trying to improve my CARS as it is so difficult for me. I was wondering if I am in a good... Advice for 1 week before MCAT
So, I'm taking the MCAT on 1/19 and am debating on whether I should finish my UWorld (70% done as of now). I have two AAMC Fls, the section bank, and part of the physics q bank left. I have been doing well on the FLs, but I am a retaker so not sure if that's the reason. At this point is it worth doing more UWorld? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Letter Services for LORs
Hello all, I couldn't find a similar thread with my questions. What letter services are used for letter writers to submit their letters of recommendation for MD schools? The AAMC mentions the AMCAS Letter Writer Application and Interfolio. Does this mean both of those services can be used? Which is better, any recommendations? Also, do recommendation letters expire after a certain time (stored in the letter service)? Just for info: If applying to a second cycle, would I need to get new... Best way to do content review?
I'm taking the exam 8/27 and am going to study full time (40-50 hrs/week) for the next 3.5 months. Planning to do get through the Kaplan books for content review in a month and devote the rest of my time to review. My question is whats the general consensus on what resources are recommended to use in addition to the Kaplan/TPR books. I have Milesdown, all the AAMC material, and Uwordl that I'm all planning to use as some point. What should I use during content review and what should I save... how to ace CARS and CP by spending < $60
i scored the equivalent of a 511 on the pre-2015 exam (31, 99th percentile CARS). also studied through a study group here on sdn i wanted to share three invaluable resources that are low cost or free and are in my opinion, game changers for prep. CARS - LSAT reading comprehension from their practice tests with lsathacks.com for answers. Their reasoning is prime (including a passage analysis and UW style explanations) and imo so close to aamc logic. you can find these practice tests... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is the blueprint mcat diagnostic deflated?
Took the diagnostic yesterday without any prep and got a 509 (125,128,128,128) which is way better than I thought i did. I"m curious as to whether it's inflated or deflated in difficulty compared to the AAMC Fls. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it likely for AAMC to push ERAS dates farther out for the 2024 Match compared to previous years given the step 1 change?
Since Step 2 is more important now, I just imagine that students will take more time to study for step 2 and start their auditions a bit later. So it would make sense for AAMC to push the dates a little farther into the future. If I'm not mistaken, the current dates are already 2 weeks farther along than they were a few years ago, correct? Berkeley review vs Kaplan for nontrad
Which set would be best for a nontrad with a weak science background? I have 6 months to study, but wouldn’t mind taking it much earlier if possible. Leaning towards TBR, but I’m worried it will be too much for me based on the stuff I've read on here. If I do go the TBR route, plan to get the AAMC materials for sure, but would Uplanet be necessary? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why does AAMC advocate more residency slots when it hurts physicians?
Got an email earlier from the AAMC saying “Specifically, AAMC Action advocates on behalf of increased support for: New Medicare-supported graduate medical education (GME) positions to improve patient access to care by training more physicians to address primary care and specialty shortages in high-need areas, such as mental and behavioral health.” Have they looked at radonc and EM? Why would they advocate for this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are "Ivory Tower" academic pathology programs actually accessible to regular MD students?
I was looking at this table (below) for stats of the "test scores and experiences of first year residents" published by the AAMC. I was a little blown away by the number of publications in the upper 75th and 90th percentile, as these rival or surpass other specialties like IM, general surgery, vascular surgery, etc. I'm doing a research year in path right now, but it feels like I would need to do a PhDs worth of work to get into the higher level academic residencies. Looking at the "Current... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
