Translated article Implementation of the standardized process of drug therapy evaluation in inpatients and outpatients
CONCLUSIONS: This study shows a clinical pharmacist developed tool called SPEP that increased the pharmacist evaluation and pharmacist interventions number in multiple clinical scenarios. These were significant only in critical care patients. Future investigations should make effort to evaluate the quality and clinical impact of these interventions.PMID:37735005 | DOI:10.1016/j.farma.2023.06.003

Graph Attention Network based mapping of knowledge relations between chemical spaces of Nuclear factor kappa B and Centella asiatica
This study aims to explore the regulatory nature of the molecules from the inhibition and activation of the NF-κB bioassay data set and map this information for a knowledge-based analysis against the molecules of CA, a low-growing tropical plant. This finding has led to a new direction in the field, transitioning from the conventional active-inactive framework to a more comprehensive active-inactive-regulatory model. This approach can be thoroughly explored by leveraging a graph-based deep learning system. The study presents an innovative approach using a Graph Attention Network (GAT) to rank CA molecules in chemical spac...

Tough, recyclable and biocompatible carrageenan-modified polyvinyl alcohol ionic hydrogel with physical cross-linked for multimodal sensing
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Sep 19:126954. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126954. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBiocompatibility hydrogel conductors are considered as sustainable bio-electronic materials for the application of wearable sensors and implantable devices. However, they mostly face the limitations of mismatched mechanical properties with skin tissue and the difficulty of recycling. In this regard, here, a biocompatible, tough, reusable sensor based on physical crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) ionic hydrogel modified with ι-carrageenan (ι-CG) helical network was reported. Through simulating the ion transport an...

A Novel Scoring Model of Deubiquitination Patterns Predicts Prognosis and Immunotherapeutic Response in Hepatocellular Carcinoma
In conclusion, our study revealed the crucial role of deubiquitination patterns in shaping TME complexity and diversity. A more personalized and effective antitumour immunotherapy strategy can be developed by utilizing the DUBscore model to identify deubiquitination patterns in individual HCC patients. Our findings also highlight that BRCC3 may serve as a potential therapeutic target in HCC and a predictive marker for immunotherapeutic response.PMID:37734237 | DOI:10.1016/j.tranon.2023.101789

Carbon-Based Electron Buffer Layer on ZnOx-Fe5C2-Fe3O4 Boosts Ethanol Synthesis from CO2 Hydrogenation
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2023 Sep 21:e202311786. doi: 10.1002/anie.202311786. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe conversion of CO2 into ethanol with renewable H2 has attracted tremendous attention due to its integrated functions of carbon elimination and chemical synthesis, but still being challenging. The electronic property of catalyst is essential to determine the adsorption strength and configuration of the key intermediates, therefore altering the reaction network for targeted synthesis. Here, a carbon buffer layer is employed to tailor the electronic property of the ternary ZnOx-Fe5C2-Fe3O4, in which the electron trans...

STARGATE-X: a Python package for statistical analysis on the REACTOME network
J Integr Bioinform. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1515/jib-2022-0029. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMany important aspects of biological knowledge at the molecular level can be represented by pathways. Through their analysis, we gain mechanistic insights and interpret lists of interesting genes from experiments (usually omics and functional genomic experiments). As a result, pathways play a central role in the development of bioinformatics methods and tools for computing predictions from known molecular-level mechanisms. Qualitative as well as quantitative knowledge about pathways can be effectively represented through biochemical ...

Antifragile, sustainable, and agile supply chain network design by considering resiliency, robustness, risk, and environmental requirements
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 20. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29488-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis research suggests an Antifragile, Sustainable and Agile Supply Chain Network Design (ASASCND) as a new network design that integrates these concepts considering resiliency, robustness, risk, and environmental requirements. The cost function combines a novel method with robust stochastic optimization and Entropic Value at Risk (EVaR). This model combines expected value, maximum and EVaR of cost as an objective function. This research adds antifragility by the effect of learning on variable parameters, sustainability ...

D-pinitol ameliorated H < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 2 < /sub > -induced oxidative damage in PC12 cells and prolonged the lifespan by IIS pathway in Caenorhabditis elegans
In this study, we intended to explore the anti-aging mechanism of DP, utilizing computer modeling techniques. The results demonstrated that DP significantly delayed H2O2-induced cellular senescence. Model PC12 cells treated with DP exhibited increased cell viability, increased antioxidant enzyme activity (SOD, CAT), and reduced ROS and MDA levels. Furthermore, DP was discovered to have a positive effect on healthy longevity. In C. elegans, DP treatment enhanced lifespan, stress capacity, antioxidant capacity (T-SOD/CAT/GSH-Px/MDA/ROS), and altered aging-related indicators of lipofuscin accumulation, pharyngeal pump rate, m...

The NEF-SPA Approach as a Framework for Developing a Neurobiologically Inspired Spiking Neural Network Model for Speech Production
CONCLUSIONS: The model presented here is a promising approach for describing speech processing in a bottom-up manner based on a set of micro-circuit neural network elements for generating a large-scale neural network. In addition, the model conforms to a top-down design, as it is available in a condensed form in box-and-arrow models based on functional imaging and electrophysiological data recruited from speech processing tasks.PMID:37735137 | DOI:10.31083/j.jin2205124

Derailment of Sleep Homeostatic Plasticity Affects the Most Plastic Brain Systems and Carries the Risk of Epilepsy
J Integr Neurosci. 2023 Aug 9;22(5):111. doi: 10.31083/j.jin2205111.ABSTRACTAlthough a critical link between non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and epilepsy has long been suspected, the interconnecting mechanisms have remained obscure. However, recent advances in sleep research have provided some clues. Sleep homeostatic plasticity is now recognized as an engine of the synaptic economy and a feature of the brain's ability to adapt to changing demands. This allows epilepsy to be understood as a cost of brain plasticity. On the one hand, plasticity is a force for development, but on the other it opens the possibility of epi...
