Good research question on ketamine
Hi all! I’m an intern, basically just started and haven’t even rotated in anesthesia yet. One of my faculty members offered to help me with research and asked for a research question. I was hoping to come up with something actually interesting and relevant to pursue, but don’t really have much experience yet to decide... I’m really interested in ketamine and its use as sedation in ICU, and I noticed it’s tendency to cause tachycardia. It got me thinking about things like demand ischemia. So... Read more

Malpractice Cases
Does anyone know any resources to read pod malpractice cases? Specifically by state? I find them pretty fascinating reads and haven’t been able to find any good resources myself

GSE234689 A snoRNA –tRNA modification network governs codon-biased cellular states
Series Type : Other ; Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing ; Non-coding RNA profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiens ; Mus musculusThe dynamic balance between tRNA supply and codon usage demand is a fundamental principle in the cellular translation economy. However, the regulation and functional consequences of this balance remain unclear. Here, we use PARIS2 interactome capture, structure modeling, conservation analysis, RNA –protein interaction analysis, and modification mapping to reveal the targets of hundreds of snoRNAs, many of which were previously considered orphans. We identif...

“Service to others”
I understand what service to others means as far as what med schools expect but I have “served” my community as a volunteer EMT for a few years with over 2000 hours and the vast majority of people were under served and vulnerable population (from the homeless, to pregnant teens, to elderly, and disabled children) and I just don’t understand how this can only count as clinical experience and not service to others. I am not in any way trying to get out of finding another volunteer position as... Read more

Interview questions about research
So as context, I am very determined to go into an MD/PhD program, and I applied to both the MD and MD/PhD programs at my target school with the intention of reapplying and transferring into MD/PhD if I only get in MD the first time. Research has been a really strong part of why I want to go into medicine, so it would play a central role in how I answer the "Why medicine" question. What I'm concerned about is whether I should mention this during the MD interview, or lie and say that I want to... Read more

What UC schools accept updates?
I'm thinking about sending updates in early November, but I can't seem to find much info on the UCs and how they feel about updates. I know UC Davis doesn't want them, but a lot of the others have the option to upload updates in the portal but no other information (pre/post-II, do they like them, etc.) I'm waiting on a publication and hope to update on that/some of my ECs to show my progress and continued interest, but I'm honestly not sure how they'd feel about it or if it would make any... AADSAS "My Programs" List
Hello! I have noticed a few times that the order of the programs/schools I applied to in the check status page changes or shuffles around periodically. Does anyone know why it does this? Just generally curious. Thank you!

eras experience section
I am a very non-traditional applicant. I spent nearly 7 years prior to medical school doing research in several labs working on several projects. I did some basic lab work and then mostly clinical research. I am trying to consolidate my research experience into one section on ERAS since there are a limited number of experiences that one can enter on the ERAS application. My issue is that this is difficult with the limited characters. Do I highlight one lab or project that I worked... Read more

Average wRVUs West Coast?
I am looking to relocate to California. I was recently offered a position at a hospital, production only model with an offer of 62 dollars per wRVU. Anyone have average dollar per RVU data for California? I was only able to find MGMA data from 2018, nothing more recent. Thank you!

Use of Grammarly to ID spelling/grammar mistakes on ERAS application
Is it OK to use grammarly or similar services to help eliminate spelling and grammatical errors. I am not sure if that would get lumped in with chatGPT or that ERAS will identify my writing as being aided by AI.
