Nationwide current situation of hospital pharmacists in intensive care units.
CONCLUSIONS: Most of the surveyed hospitals have one part-time  pharmacist in these units. In order to improve the quality of  pharmaceutical care of critically ill patients, it would be necessary to  extend the involvement in time and staff, regarding the current  situation, and a greater number of hospitals should include pharmacists  in hospital intensive care units. Economic evaluation and budgetary burden of mepolizumab in severe refractory eosinophilic asthma.
CONCLUSIONS: The cost comparison between mepolizumab and  omalizumab in immunoglobulin E mediated eosinophilic asthma patients  suggests a use of the lower cost drug, promoting price competition.  Additionally, prioritizing its use among non immunoglobulin E-mediated  severe refractory eosinophilic asthma patients and ≥ 500 eosinophils/μL  plasma level patients, would improve its efficiency as well as  reducing its budgetary impact. Inhalation technique assessment and evaluation for the need of pharmaceutical intervention in respiratory pathologies patients.
CONCLUSIONS: There is a high rate of errors in the use of inhaled  therapy, being even higher among older aged patients. The inhalation  technique training by the medical staff seems inadequate, as it is crucial  to raise awareness about the importance of health education for  patients and their use of inhalers, to which a scheduled follow up and a  technical and feedback obtained from the patient assessment is  required. OTAC: Optimization of Antibiotic Therapy in Critically ill Patients. Using beta-lactam antibiotics by continuous infusion.
CONCLUSIONS: Standard doses of meropenem CI are sufficient to  achieve a PK/PD target of 100% fT≥ 4 x MIC in suspected infections  with high MICs (Pseudomonas aeruginosa or enterobacteriaceae).  However, higher doses of piperacillin/tazobactam could be considered to  achieve this goal. In patients with isolated microorganisms, a  standard dose of both antibiotic therapies would be sufficient to achieve  the target. Therapeutic drug monitoring is highly recommended for  therapeutic optimization. PMID: 31469627 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Farmacia Hospitalaria)

Capecitabine safety profile, innovative and generic adjuvant formulation of nonmetastatic colorectal cancer.
CONCLUSIONS: The safety profile of two capecitabine formulations - innovative and generic- appears to be associated with the  chemotherapy scheme employed, and not the drug itself. Most palmar- plantar erythrodysesthesia for monotherapy is likely due to the higher  dose of capecitabine used in said scheme. The increase in neurotoxicity,  thrombocytopenia and neutropenia for XELOX is probably due to  cumulative toxicity of two antineoplastic drugs.
