GSE263394 Dolutegravir induces FOLR1 expression during brain organoid development.
Contributors : Daniel Kraushaar ; Carlo Donato Caiaffa ; Robert M CabreraSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensThe brain and spinal cord are formed during neurulation, a developmental process that occurs during the first month of pregnancy and can be modified by low serum levels of folic acid (FA), environmental factors, or genetic predispositions. In 2018, data from a surveillance study in Botswana, a country with one of the highest incidences of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and lacking mandatory food folate fortification programs, revealed an increased risk of neur...

Association of maternal weight gain in early pregnancy with congenital heart disease in offspring: a China birth cohort study
Conclusions and relevance Although the association of maternal pre-pregnancy weight gain on fetal CHD is weak, the excessive weight gain may be a potential predictor of CHD in the offspring, especially in those with morning sickness and other conditions that are routine in the cohort, such as normal pre-pregnancy BMI, moderate physical activity, college/university level, natural conception or with FA and/or multivitamin supplementation. Challenges and lessons learnt in the management of an HIV-exposed neonate with gastroschisis in a resource-limited setting: case report
CONCLUSION: This case of gastroschisis shows how the diagnosis and management of neonates born with major congenital structural abnormalities in resource-limited settings is still desirable due to lack of sophisticated medical care services to assist in early detection during pregnancy and early surgical intervention at birth to prevent associated mortality. The authors discuss the lessons learnt and provide recommendations for improvement in the care of neonates born with abdominal wall defects and other congenital birth defects.PMID:38576955 | PMC:PMC10990413 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001924 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Clinico-Etiopathogenesis of Vitamin B12, Folic Acid and Iron Deficiency in Severe Acute Malnutrition Children: A Tertiary Care Hospital Experience from Central India
In this study, haematological indices are recommended for predicting severity of anemia, and hematopoietic changes are described, in order to improve anticipatory care and outcome in children with SAM.PMID:38577146 | PMC:PMC10987456 | DOI:10.1007/s12291-022-01100-5 (Source: Clinical Biochemistry)

Supplementation with vitamin D improves the embryo quality in in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs, independently of the patients ’ basal vitamin D status
ConclusionSupplementation of VD in patients undergoing ICSI procedures significantly improved the number of top-quality embryos compared with the control group, either starting from VD normal baseline values or starting from low values.Trial registration number07/2018.
