Treatment outcomes of single-fraction stereotactic radiosurgery for adenoid cystic carcinoma: a case series of 55 patients
CONCLUSION: SRS provided a high rate of local tumor control, but marginal failure was frequent. Integrating SRS with added EBRT exhibits potential for enhancing local and local/marginal tumor control, particularly in recurrent cases.PMID:38180687 | DOI:10.1007/s11060-024-04561-1 (Source: Cancer Control)

A case of tracheal stenosis due to anaplastic thyroid carcinoma treated using the stent ‐in‐stent method
A 58-year-old man with tracheal stenosis due to anaplastic thyroid carcinoma was treated with a tracheal AERO stent. He was readmitted with severe dyspnea due to collapse of the distal portion of the stent caused by tumor growth and remedied by stent-in-stent method. The stent-in-stent method with an additional stent was useful in managing tracheal AERO stent collapse, which is a rare complication compared to bronchial AERO stent collapse due to differences in the nitinol framework thickness. AbstractTracheal AERO stent collapse is a rare complication compared to bronchial AERO stent collapse due to differences in the niti...

News at a glance: Climate damage fund, a Palestinian physicist killed, and a dismissal following a Harvard gift
CLIMATE POLICY Climate damage fund launched At the U.N. climate conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last week, nations agreed to a draft resolution for a “loss and damage” fund to compensate developing countries for harms caused by climate change when adapting to them is not possible. Many of those countries face risks from increased storms, drought, and other effects of global warming, despite not being responsible for the bulk of historic fossil fuel emissions. Wealthy countries have already promised more than $700 million for the fund. But many details of its operation, including the bo...

Long ‐term outcome following successful endoscopic closure of tracheo‐oesophageal fistulas with two cardiac amplatzer septal occluders in a patient with oesophageal cancer
We report a case of successful closure of two adjacent TEFs with two partially overlapping cardiac amplatzer occluder devices. The insertion of a 12  mm and a 9 mm device was successful and without complications. The patient tolerated the cardiac amplatzer-devices well and could resume oral food uptake after 2 months. Two years after closure, the patient remained free of symptoms suggesting complete sealing of the fistulas. AbstractAcquired tracheo-oesophageal fistulas (TEFs) are rare and challenging complications in the course of oesophageal cancer. While surgery is the only curative treatment option for TEFs many pat...
