Endotracheal enucleation and para ‐toluenesulfonamide injection for adenoid cystic carcinoma in the upper trachea: A novel therapeutic approach
We present a case of tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) treated with endotracheal enucleation followed by three doses of para-toluenesulfonamide (PTS)-lipiodol mixture injection. The treatment resulted in tumor eradication, improved airway patency, and absence of recurrence in 1  year, suggesting PTS as a promising alternative for inoperable ACC. AbstractWe present a case of an adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) located in the upper trachea, which resulted in significant airway blockage, that was unsuitable for surgical removal due to concerns about functional impairment. Instead, endotracheal enucleation via rigid bron...

Trends in tracheal, bronchial and lung cancer attributed to smoking in South America: Global Burden of Disease analysis 1990-2019
CONCLUSION: While significant efforts on tobacco control are under place in South America, substantial burden of TBL cancer persists in the region with significant sex-specific disparities. Increased country-specific primary data on TBL cancer and tobacco exposure is needed to optimize healthcare strategies and improve comprehension of regional trends.PMID:38576842 | PMC:PMC10993800 | DOI:10.26633/RPSP.2024.30 (Source: Cancer Control)

A population study comparing tracheal and lung adenoid cystic carcinoma
ConclusionsLACC is more aggressive and has a worse prognosis than TACC. TACC patients have more opportunities for local treatment, which is important for the prognosis of both TACC and LACC. Nomograms were created for TACC and LACC to aid in personalized survival predictions and clinical decisions. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

An ecological analysis of associations between ambient air pollution and cancer incidence rates in Taiwan
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Apr 3. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-33145-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAir pollution is deemed a human carcinogen and can be linked to certain types of cancer other than lung cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the pollutant-cancer associations in a population-level cohort. We obtained the annual age-standardized incidence rates of 28 different cancer types between 2015 to 2019 from the Taiwan Cancer Registry. Outdoor concentrations of particulate matter with a diameter of 10 μm or less (PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ground-level ozone (O3), and carbon mono...

Pharyngeal mucosal closure in total laryngectomy: comparison between vertical and T-shaped closure
CONCLUSIONS: Although complicationswere lower in the T-shaped closure group, we could not establish the superiority of either technique.PMID:38502946 | DOI:10.24875/CIRU.22000324 (Source: Cirugia y Cirujanos)
