HPSP and DO match List statistics
I was wondering if any of you currently in DO school, and/or graduates of, could give me a little information about your experiences with HPSP and military match. The search engines are falling short on this one, y'all. I'm going through the HPSP program, and ideally would want a military residency match. As a DO, do you find it challenging to get a military match? Are there many or very few slots? Just probing and seeing what struggles my future may hold. Thanks for reading. Why are Match rates so low in dentistry?
Most specialties in dentistry hover around a 50-60% match rate. However in Medicine most specialties have 90%+ match rates, and even the toughest specialties such as Derm/Ortho/Neurosurg all have match rates 75%+. Med students make it seem as if specializing in Derm is almost impossible, you need a crazy high class rank and crazy high board scores, yet their match rate is so high. In comparison all dental specialties seem tougher. Am I interpreting these statistics incorrectly? Is there... Why are Match rates so low in dentistry? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pre-Reqs too Incomplete to Apply??
Hi all, So I have yet to take anatomy and physiology with lab because my school only offers it to seniors. Depending on the schools I apply to, I would still need to take an upper div psychology as well as statistics. Do I have too many pre-reqs that aren't finished in order to apply this cycle? I know that it depends on the school, but how much do they look at the anatomy and physiology grades? If not, I will need to take a gap year and apply next cycle. Would really appreciate some... How to go into interviews confident, knowing there is so much competition?
I recently noticed that some school accepts 33% of students post-interview and even some schools accept 5% of students post-interview. These kinds of statistics are affecting my confidence going into these interviews knowing that there is so much stiff competition. I always thought that after the interview that things would get a little easier but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore sigh. Any advice on how to deal with this? Feeling very discouraged. Low gpa.
Hey all, long time lurker here. I just wanna say before I start, I understand that the best thing I can do, as of now, is to just try and achieve as many A's possible. What I'm looking for is some type of statistical breakdown of how screwed I am with my current situation. Also trying to figure out what my best option is moving forward! To start off, I just graduated high school with an Associates degree from a local college. I was dual-enrolled for about 3 years. I'm currently in my first... Feeling very discouraged. Low gpa. Should I retake or apply with what I have? (20AA/21TS/24PAT)
I took the DAT today and did not do as well as I hoped. I know it's a respectable score, but UNC is my dream school and it's right below there average. I am a NC resident and went to UNC for undergrad. Here is my score: PAT - 24 QR - 17 (smh, I majored in statistics so this was a bummer) RC - 20 Bio - 19 GC - 24 OC - 22 TS - 21 AA - 20 I have a 3.53 oGPA/3.55 BCP GPA/3.51 sGPA. I have 500+ research hours (paper presentation and a pending publication), ~120 volunteer hours and leadership... Should I retake or apply with what I have? 2019 COMSAE 101, 102, 104 correlation to COMLEX scores
As of June 2019, there is no statistical data correlating the new COMSAEs to a COMLEX Level 1 score. Perhaps, if we post our data, we can generate our own "stats"? (***please only insert data if you took the exam timed***) 1. What did you score on COMASE 101, COMSAE 102, COMSAE 104? (Timed mode) 2. What were your most recent COMBANK percentages on your last 4 (50 question) Blocks in Timed mode? (If you use COMQUEST instead, note that in your post) If someone has a better idea, feel free... 2019 COMSAE 101, 102, 104 correlation to COMLEX scores (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Research opportunities available
Hi all! I am a PGY-1, soon to be PGY-2, who is interested in building up my research profile. I have ample of experience in research and have presented my work at several conferences. My primary interest is in GI or Pulmonary clinical research. I also have friends who are statisticians who are willing to help. I have several ongoing projects of my own that need literature review and writing/editing. Unfortunately, lack of time during residency is slowing me down. If anyone is interested in... Should I keep trying? :/
Hello future doctors! I’ve been secretly viewing posts on SDN since middle school and this is my first post lol. I’m an upcoming senior pre-med at a top 13 public university. So far I have taken Gen chem one and two, bio one and two, anatomy and physiology one, microbiology, precalculus, Calc one, statistics, and I’m currently taking OCHEM one in the summer. I still have to take physics, biochemistry and the second half of OCHEM. The reason for my post is because I’m trying to determine... Should I keep trying? :/ (Source: Student Doctor Network)
