Can someone please help me decide between a FT clinical vs research opportunity?
Hello everyone, First and foremost: thank you for taking the time to read my post and help me out. I am a 28 YO nontrad. I spent the past year scribing in an emergency department and I LOVED IT! My experience prompted me to start in a premedical post bacc program, in which I am in the second semester of my first year. I recently moved to the city where my post bacc is located and secured a research position in a dry lab where I help PIs with statistical research, specifically in the context... 4.0/516: WAMC / School List Review
Got my MCAT score recently, so I will be applying to the 2022-2023 cycle (MD). I'm in the process of getting my personal statement, LORs, and activity section completed, so I should be good to apply by the end of May (or whenever AMCAS opens). I've been gathering a lot of information about med school statistics, residency placement, etc. Thought I would add my stats and med school list here. If anyone has any input and if there are any necessary last-minute changes to my application that I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How am I doing as a freshman?
I am wondering what I can do to effectively spend my time in college and if I'm at risk for burnout. Mentally, I'm doing better this semester but keep thinking about the incredibly stressful times I went through last semester- an experience I don't want to go through again. I plan on applying to two EAP programs this year, but am definitely not betting on it as the statistics are low. Current GPA: 4.0 (second semester grades should be fine, although I am a bit worried about OChem I)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

COMLEX-USA and USMLE for Osteopathic Medical Students: Should we Duplicate, Divide, or Unify
COMLEX-USA and USMLE for Osteopathic Medical Students: Should We Duplicate, Divide, or Unify? In 2020, approximately 60% of osteopathic medical students took at least one portion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).1 At first, this may seem a curious statistic. After all, the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) is the only... meridian.allenpress.com Thoughts ? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CHSU (New Campus Close To Family- No Match Results) or Midwestern AZ (Expensive but reputable)
I'd really value any constructive and rational opinions on a choice I'm about to make. I think I'm looking to practice EM but I don't want my options limited if that should change. I was accepted to (2) programs. Program 1 - CHSU in Fresno California. It's a new program and only has (2) years of classes so far. That being said there are no statistics to reference. The clinical rotations have two years of "testing" using "guest rotations" from the Dean's past school. I'm not sure how the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Timeline questions: credits completion, MCAT scores ...
Hello all, I am early 30s YO non-traditional applicant hoping to apply to medical school this coming cycle.I delayed in getting to University - worked a wide assortment of jobs. Completed a BA late 20s. My bachelor's was in a liberal arts discipline. I also recently completed a master's degree in psychology, with focus on statistics and Programming. I basically realized midway throught this MA program that I definitely wanted to be a physician - but I had thought about it much earlier... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

R Computing Language
Hi - I'm a double major between Psych and Biology. I took proper mathematical Statistics for the Bio major. The Psych major wanted something directed towards Behavioral Science research specifically, so I took their Statistics for Behavioral Science Research too. I have historically always used Stata and SSPS in my research positions, but it seems like R is getting to be the wave of the future. The Behavioral Science Statistics class had notes on the syllabus where you could self-teach R... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What areas do dentists need to be fully skilled in? Do they have to remember every topic they have taken in college? Such as math and physics?
Good morning, everyone I keep asking myself what areas of topics do dentists needs to be skilled in. I have taken lots of math, college algebra, calculus 1,2,3, linear algebra, plane trigonometry, statistics, general education math, and differential equations. Those were one of the boring courses I have taken. Every math problem had multiple steps and all the arithmetic needed to be solved correctly or else one tiny mistake would cause an invalid answer. Especially on exams where a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Which course/s should I do to learn how to conduct clinical research and learn biostatistics?
Basically the title. I don't know anything about clinical research or research in general. My medical school starts in 2 months so I was hoping to use this free time to learn something useful. Also has anyone done Malke Asaad's courses? Also, should I learn how to statistical analysis in SPSS or R? I'm asking in this forum because the student research forum is very inactive. Gamsat advice: How to best prepare (very long post)
In conclusion (feel like I'm wrapping up a GAMSAT essay here haha), don't give up. Just because you think you may not be good enough for this exam does not mean you aren't. Work hard and at the end of the day, the best you can do is try. Simply the fact that you're sitting the exam and putting yourself through the stress and pressure already shows that you have one of the traits of a worthy doctor. Good luck :) (Source: The Student Room)

AAMC Annual Statistics
In case anyone is interested, I just noticed that AAMC has published its latest treasure trove of statistical tables. The highlight for me, from Table A-1, is that applications for the class that just entered rose to 62,432 unique applicants submitting an average of 18 applications each, up from 53,030 applicants submitting an average of 17 applications each the previous cycle. This means the national matriculation rate dropped to 22,665/62,432 = 36.3%. Any drop in the number of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
