Wall Street Journal reports on the collapse of American physician autonomy
Doctors, Once GOP Stalwarts, Now More Likely to Be Democrats The historic shift, driven by changes in the business of medicine and women entering the profession, comes with the overall movement of college-educated people to the Democratic Party. The realignment is changing where physicians live and work, how they treat patients and how they influence the... www.wsj.com This is an INCREDIBLE read. Is doing PsyD better than doing a PhD? Which has better job prospectives?
Hi all, I’m new to this particular forum. I’m interested in doing PsyD and I was hoping for some more info. My undergrad gpa is 3.87 and that too with double majors bio and psych. I’ve As in all my psych courses including research design and statistics if that’s relevant. I can’t get into a PhD program because I don’t have much experience in research, except two semesters of independent study, but no publications. Besides, if I make a career in psychology, then I want my experience to... Is doing PsyD better than doing a PhD? Which has better job prospectives? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DO School and Residency Matching
Hi All, I was wandering if any of you have any information or statistics on specific DO schools that match the most students with residencies? I know @Goro had some information on this at one point but I could not find the thread. I believe @Goro also had a list of DO schools to NOT apply to due to the low matching rates. Also, does anyone know if DO's have a particularly hard time matching into MD residencies? Would they have to have stellar stats... DO School and Residency Matching (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Post Bac: Should I withdraw from this class?
Thanks for reading this post. I need help deciding if I should withdraw from this class. I am a post-bac student at a private university taking a biostatistics course. Originally, I was excited about this course because it would give me a foundation to take a step forward in my job (research assistant). However, a couple of red flags appeared after the add/drop period already passed: - the class has very little to do with true statistics and has turned into very complex coding that was... Citing Statistics in Secondaries?
I am filling out the secondary for a school that only takes about ~20% of their class from OOS. I am putting in some statistics about the state in my secondary essays for the "Why Us?" essay. Do I have to cite these statistics? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Expected Physician Job Growth dropped from 13% to 7% in updated Bureau of Labor Statistics
Uhh.... wtf. That’s a huge drop. Updated less than a week ago. The BLS tend to be pretty generous in their predictions too. Meanwhile the AAMC is still talking about muh physician shortage. Someone’s got to put a stop to this medical school hyperexpansion BS. I’d rather not get into med school at all than train 7 years and not have a job or compete for crap ones. Dissertation stuck due to power analysis
I’m not sure if this is allowed on here but I hope so because I’ve received solid advice on this site before. My dissertation isn’t moving forward until I do a power analysis. However, my chair does not know how to do it for the statistical tests I am running. The other member of my committee said I don’t need one, and my third is the one who said I NEED to do it but he is off campus and when I emailed about it he asked me questions like he didn’t remember my study even though he wrote most... If some one helps us with the statistics then we would be willing to even share the multiple case... statistical help needed by Internal medicine resident interested in GI (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Evidence PDs want you to take the USMLE as DO student?
It’s my understanding that taking the USMLE as a DO student was almost expected of you since it makes you more competitive. This is what I always read in SDN and what other DO students have told me. However is any of this evidence based? Or are we taking the USMLE because the class ahead of us said we should? Is the upside of potentially getting a high score worth the risk of failing it? A doctor at my school challenged us to find any statistical evidence that Program Directors prefer we... Evidence PDs want you to take the USMLE as DO student? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
