Rad Onc Job Market, Supreme Court, and Hyper-Polarization of America
This thread has a good chance of spinning off topic and getting locked, so I will try as hard as I can to keep it laser focused on Rad Onc and not delve into murky political waters. It is a fact that there is a maldistribution of Radiation Oncologists - I don't think anyone would contest that. The highest demand areas, statistically are the large urban metro regions scattered throughout the country. Statistically, the sizable majority of these "desirable" places tend to be blue. However... The End of Pediatric Subspecialties
I was just looking over the 2014 NRP Fellowship Match statistics: http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uplo...gram-NRMP-Results-and-Data-SMS-2014-Final.pdf). While I knew that declining subspecialty salaries and the three year minimum training time had hurt the Peds subspecialties, I had no idea how bad it had gotten. While the specialties that lead to significant hourly pay raises continue to do well (ICU/NICU/Cardiology/Peds-EM/Heme-onc) pretty much... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to list these courses on AMCAS?
Hey everyone! I have taken currently taking Epidemiology II and have taken Epidemiology I in the past. Epidemiology I was very math and statistics heavy, and as I result I will list it as a course for my science GPA. On the other hand, Epidemiology II was has more focused on research design and less science heavy. Would it be okay to list Epidemiology I as a course for my science GPA, while listing Epidemiology II for my non-science GPA? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How many high stat applicants do NOT get into any T20s?
I've been wondering if there are any statistics or educated guesses from the community about high stat applicants (3.95+ and 522+) not getting into any T20 programs. I get that the admissions process is holistic and considers more than just these two numbers, but what are the reasons that high stat applicants do not receive II/A from any of these top programs? Many people that have received A's from top programs or work on adcoms have listed stats as the most important (but definitely not... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are the technical skills or statistical analysis skills we should know or be familiar with for medical school research?
Hi All, I was wondering what are some technical skills or statistical analysis skills we as medical students should know that will help us with medical school research? For example, what particular statistical test or quantitative analysis programs did you often use during your research projects during medical school? Hope this makes sense! Thank you for your time! 502 MCAT 3.5 Science GPA (DO)
Hi! I just got my MCAT score and was shocked to see a 502. I am hoping to retake this soon, so that I can have a chance at MD maybe. But, I was wondering if this score is "good enough" to apply for DO program this cycle as planned? I was also wondering if it is possible to start applying to schools with this score, and then update them later on with a newer (hopefully better) MCAT score? Here are other statistics about me: ORM F, NJ Well-respected undergrad, graduated in December 2021 3.5... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DO Chances? (3.45 cGPA, 3.22 sGPA, 509 MCAT)
What are the odds I can get into any DO School? Also, do you have any recommendations as to where I should apply? I am very new to the application process and have spent most of my time getting my statistics up, Here is some other information: - State: California (would love to stay in-state) - Upward Trend (starting towards the end of sophomore year) - 800 Research Hours - 120-140 Clinic Hours - General Chemistry: B, B, C (quarter system) - General Biology: A-, A-, A- - General Physics: C+... Is Neuropsychology the right route for me?
Hi all, I've spent the last three years going through a career change, heading back to school, and preparing for a graduate degree. At first, I was interested in getting a Master's in Counselling (As a former teacher, counselling my students was my favourite part of the job), but as I went through my undergraduate classes, I excelled in a lot of my neuroscience, statistics and research-based courses; I also really enjoyed them! As such, I began to look into a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I stay with my current job (research) or take a new one (clinical)
Hello everyone. First and foremost: thank you for taking the time to read my post and help me out. I am a 28 YO nontrad. I spent the past year scribing in an emergency department and I LOVED IT! My experience prompted me to start in a premedical post bacc program, in which I am in the second semester of my first year. I recently moved to the city where my post bacc is located and secured a research position in a dry lab where I help PIs with statistical research, specifically in the context... MD PhD with psych heavy research background (no wet lab research)
Hello, I've been in two psych labs for the past 3 years or so, and I'll be doing 2 post-bacc years in one of them. In graduate school, I would like to study the neural substrates of my current research, which involves externalizing psychopathology (think aggression and addiction). Most of the work done in my lab has been statistics heavy, primarily consisting of analysis of already collected data. I have ~3 posters (one co-author, two first author). one co-author pub, and am potentially... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4.0/516: WAMC / School List Review
Got my MCAT score recently, so I will be applying to the 2022-2023 cycle (MD). I'm in the process of getting my personal statement, LORs, and activity section completed, so I should be good to apply by the end of May (or whenever AMCAS opens). I've been gathering a lot of information about med school statistics, residency placement, etc. Thought I would add my stats and med school list here. If anyone has any input and if there are any necessary last-minute changes to my application that I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
