Clinician guidelines for the treatment of psychiatric disorders with nutraceuticals and phytoceuticals: The World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP) and Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments (CANMAT) Taskforce
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the current data and clinician input, a range of nutraceuticals and phytoceuticals were given either a supportive recommendation or a provisional recommendation across a range of various psychiatric disorders. However several had only a weak endorsement for potential use; for a few it was not possible to reach a clear recommendation direction, largely due to mixed study findings; while some other agents showed no obvious therapeutic benefit and were clearly not recommended for use. It is the intention of these guidelines to inform psychiatric/medical, and health professional practice globally.PMID:353...

Comparing the effects of Elaegnus Angustifolia, Hypericum Perforatum and Psidium Guajava extracts on metabolic activity of dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells
AbstractDental pulp derived-mesenchymal stem cells (DP-MSCs) is considered a suitable are candidate for tissue engineering techniques and osseous reconstruction. Based on the hypothesis thatHypericum perforatum,Elaeagnus Angustifolia andPsidium guajava extracts can be used in cell-based bone tissue engineering due to meagre cytotoxicity response in the cell culture medium, their effects on the viability and metabolic activity of DP-MSCs were investigated and compared with each extract. DP-MSCs were extracted from human dental pulp, characterized by flow cytometry, and differentiated into Osteogenic and adipogenic lineages ...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 1221: Novel Evidence-Based Combination of Plant Extracts with Multitarget Mechanisms of Action for the Elimination of Hot Flashes during Menopause
a Andreadou Hot flashes are considered the most bothersome complaint during menopause. Although hormone therapy is an effective option to relieve hot flashes, it has been associated with significant side effects. The aim of our study is to suggest a novel combination of different plant extracts with distinct mechanisms of action against hot flashes. We selected the rhizome of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (Fabaceae), the rhizome of Actaea racemosa L. (Ranunculaceae), the aerial parts of Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericaceae) to produce extracts rich in bioactive phytochemicals and the seed oil of Oenothera biennis L. (Onagrace...

Pharmacokinetics of tacrolimus following an overdose in a patient with extreme obesity and genotype CYP3A5*3/*3: a case report
J Toxicol Sci. 2022;47(2):71-75. doi: 10.2131/jts.47.71.ABSTRACTThis case involved a 27-year-old man with extreme obesity (body mass index 45.6 kg/m2) who had a history of fulminant hepatitis and living-donor liver transplantation at 11 years of age. He had been receiving oral sustained-release tacrolimus (TAC) 1.5 mg daily, and the trough concentration in the blood was below 2.0 ng/mL. He has an intrinsic cytochrome P450 3A5 (CYP3A5)*3/*3 (G/G) genotype and graft liver with CYP3A5*3 allele donated by his biological father. Additionally, there were no data on the phenotype of P-glycoprotein. He did not take medications, gr...
