Acute myocardial infarction due to spontaneous coronary artery dissection in a young male with systemic lupus erythematosus: A case report
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Apr 9;27(6):246. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12534. eCollection 2024 Jun.ABSTRACTSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease which typically presents in young women. Patients with SLE exhibit features of accelerated atherosclerosis. Here, the present study reported a rare case of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in a male patient diagnosed with SLE. A 29-year-old male with no cardiovascular history was diagnosed with AMI and underwent coronary angiography, which showed a long-extended spiral-shaped dissection of the right coronary artery (RCA). The patient's autoimmune panel tested positive fo...

The immunoregulatory effects of total glucosides of paeony in autoimmune diseases
J Leukoc Biol. 2024 Apr 16:qiae095. doi: 10.1093/jleuko/qiae095. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTotal glucoside of paeonia (TGP) and its main active ingredient paeoniflorin, extracted from the Chinese herb Paeonia Lactiflora Pallas, exhibit potent immunomodulatory effects. TGP has been shown to inhibit inflammatory responses and disease progression in experimental models of multiple autoimmune diseases (AIDs), including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, psoriasis, etc. TGP shows broad immunomodulatory effects on many immune cells such as T cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells, by reg...

The proportion of CD161 on CD56+ NK cells in peripheral circulation associates with clinical features and disease activity of primary Sj ögren's syndrome
ConclusionThis study suggested that the proportion of CD56+ NK cells and CD161+CD56+ NK cells decreased significantly in pSS patients, and the proportion of CD161+CD56+ NK cells negatively associated with the clinical features and disease activity of pSS patients. CD161 expression inhibited the function of CD56+ NK cells in peripheral blood of pSS patients. The CD161+CD56+ NK cells may present as a potential target for therapy and a biomarker of disease activity in pSS. (Source: Immunity, Inflammation and Disease)

Effectiveness of Korean Red Ginseng on fatigue in patients with rheumatic diseases: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study
CONCLUSIONS: Both KRG and placebo groups showed significant reductions in fatigue. KRG treatment for 24 weeks did not reduce fatigue symptoms more than the placebo in patients with rheumatic diseases.PMID:38576235 | DOI:10.3904/kjim.2023.350 (Source: The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine)

Association of pulmonary hypertension with outcomes in patients with Systemic sclerosis and other connective tissue disorders: review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with SSc-PH are characterized by significantly lower survival function as compared to SSc patients without PH. Among the different entities of PH, SSc shows the worst survival, underlining prognostic significance of detection and evaluation of PH according to the currently established approach.PMID:38567564 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v41i1.14570 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)
