The influence of COVID-19 on the treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke: a  retrospective observational study

Lesion location and serum levels of homocysteine are associated with early ‐onset post‐stroke depression in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsOur study indicated that higher NIHSS score, elevated serum levels of HCY, and multiple-site lesions may be independent risk factors of early-onset PSD. The combination of HCY, NIHSS scores, multiple-site lesions, and lesion location may provide greater predictive value than HCY alone for early-onset PSD. Early intervention for elevated serum levels of HCY may be a potential target for the intervention and prevention of PSD.

Thrombectomy with and without computed tomography perfusion imaging for large-vessel occlusion stroke in the extended time window: a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials
ConclusionThese findings suggest that the choice of NCCT ± CTA (without CTP) for the assessment of mechanical thrombectomy within 6–24 h after LVO in the anterior circulation is not significantly different from CTP; instead, the choice of NCCT ± CTA significantly reduces the time from onset to arterial puncture.

Functional electrical stimulation therapy controlled by a P300-based brain –computer interface, as a therapeutic alternative for upper limb motor function recovery in chronic post-stroke patients. A non-randomized pilot study
ConclusionThe results of the proposed BCI-FEST intervention are promising, even for the most chronic post-stroke patients often relegated from novel interventions, whose expected recovery with conventional therapy is very low. It is necessary to carry out a randomized controlled trial in the future with a larger sample of patients.

Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors as a risk factor for chronic subdural hematoma recurrence: A matter of debate
Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common central nervous system condition. Recent reports indicate that cSDH affects long-term prognosis; however, its definitive risk factors remain unknown. An antihypertensive drug, renin –angiotensin–aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASi), can affect vascular permeability and cell proliferation processes, which may suppress the recurrence of cSDH. However, several studies have reported negative results to this effect. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate antihypertensive drugs, includ ing RAASi, as risk factors for recurrent cSDH.

miR-188-5p silencing improves cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by targeting Lin28a
This report aimed to explore whether miR-188-5p regulated the pathological regulatory network of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. We simulated the cerebral I/R injury model with MACO/R and OGD/R treatments. Neuronal viability and apoptosis were assessed. The contents of miR-188-5p and Lin 28a were evaluated. The abundances of apoptosis-related proteins (Bax, Bcl-2, and cleaved caspase-3) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF- α, IL-1β, and IL-6) were measured.
