Prediction of Major Vascular Events after Stroke: The Stroke Prevention by Aggressive Reduction in Cholesterol Levels Trial
Conclusions: Both a baseline FCRS of 20% or more and a novel predictive model were associated with future MVEs in SPARCL trial subjects. The novel model needs to be validated, and the benefits of using either the FCRS or the novel model in clinical practice needs to be assessed.

Young-aged stroke in Korea: changing patterns of risk factors and etiologies (P7.120)
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to the previous study, the proportion of male to female ratio decreased. While smoking and drinking rates decreased in male, metabolic risk factors such as diabetes and dyslipidemia increased in both genders, which explain the increasing proportion of large artery atherosclerotic disease in female patients. The proportion of strokes associated with artery dissection increased, which may be due to the use of advanced diagnostic tools. The correlation between admission blood glucose and intravenous rt‐PA‐induced arterial recanalization in acute ischemic stroke: a multi‐centre TCD study
ConclusionHyperglycemia is associated with low rate of complete recanalization and poor clinical outcome in intravenous recombinant tissue‐plasminogen activator‐treated patients. Further studies are needed to evaluate whether lowering hyperglycemia is beneficial in the management of acute stroke patients.

Predicting major bleeding in patients with noncardioembolic stroke on antiplatelets: S2TOP-BLEED
Conclusions: The S2TOP-BLEED score can be used to estimate 3-year major bleeding risk in patients with a TIA or ischemic stroke who use antiplatelet agents, based on readily available characteristics. The discriminatory performance may be improved by identifying stronger predictors of major bleeding.
