Impact of D-dimer levels for short-term or long-term outcomes in cryptogenic stroke patients
ConclusionsIncreased D-dimer levels at admission were associated with mortality at discharge in cryptogenic stroke patients. In addition, high D-dimer levels were also associated with long-term outcomes in cryptogenic stroke patients with RLS.

Increased risk for cancer after stroke at a young age: etiological relevance or incidental finding?
ConclusionIn our cohort, young individuals aged  ≤ 55 years who suffered a stroke had twice as high risk for developing cancer within 10 years after the index event compared to the control group. Stroke might have implication regarding the subsequent development of cancer and vice versa.

Cardiovascular outcomes and mortality after incident ischaemic stroke in patients with a recent cancer history

Predictive Risk Factors of In-Hospital Mortality Following Acute Stroke in the United States: Data from the Nationwide Inpatient Database, 2006-2010 (P02.015)
CONCLUSIONS: The rate of in-hospital mortality is relatively high following acute stroke (8.42%). We identified multiple risk factors of in-hospital mortality in acute stroke patients. The strongest risk factor is the type stroke (hemorrhagic). Radiation, Atherosclerotic Risk Factors, and Stroke Risk in Survivors of Pediatric Cancer: A Report From the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study
Conclusion: Young adult pediatric cancer survivors have an increased stroke risk that is associated with CRT in a dose-dependent manner. Atherosclerotic risk factors enhanced this risk and should be treated aggressively.

Stroke Education Needs of African American Women
ConclusionsThe results suggest that culturally sensitive stroke education for African American women should include stories of women with stroke and provide experiential and visual depictions of stroke warning signs. Group forums, television, and web‐based education may be acceptable ways to communicate stroke information to African American women.

Conclusions: We found 12.5% pts with both diagnoses. Cancer, as a hipercoagulable state, might be a risk factor for stroke, which in turn could be a first manifestation of a neoplasic disease. DWI Lesion Patterns in Cancer-Related Stroke - Specifying the Phenotype
Conclusion: When excluding competing embolic and nonembolic stroke etiologies, the pattern of scattered DWI lesions in multiple vascular supply territories strongly dominates the phenotype of cancer-related stroke. Additionally, evidence of recurrent infarction is frequent in this cohort of patients. This is not only important for the diagnosis of cancer-related stroke itself but may prove helpful for the identification of cancer-related stroke patients with unknown malignancy at the time of stroke manifestation and evaluation of strategies for secondary prevention.Cerebrovasc Dis Extra 2015;5:139-145
