Predictive Value of Plasma d-Dimer Levels for Cancer-related Stroke: A 3-Year Retrospective Study
Background: Cerebrovascular disease is the second leading cause of central nervous system pathology in cancer patients. Cancer-associated hypercoagulation plays an important role in cancer-related stroke. Hyponatremia in the Prognosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke
Background: Hyponatremia is a risk factor for stroke and cardiovascular disease. Even mild hyponatremia is associated with increased 30-day mortality after myocardial infarction, and it has recently shown to increase the 3-year mortality after a stroke. Smoking and Mortality in Stroke Survivors: Can We Eliminate the Paradox?
Conclusions: Stroke survivors who smoke have an increased risk of all-cause mortality, which is largely because of cancer mortality. Socioeconomic and clinical factors explain stroke survivors' higher risk of CVD mortality associated with smoking.

Associations Between Adherence to Evidence-Based, Stroke Quality Indicators and Outcomes of Acute Reperfusion Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated national marked and sustainable improvement in adherence to door-to-needle time, door-to-puncture time, and successful reperfusion from 2013 to 2017 in Japan in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Adiponectin and Risk of Stroke: Prospective Study and Meta-analysis Clinical Sciences

Conclusions— Recreational PA of moderate intensity was inversely associated with stroke incidence in women, whereas PA showed no effect on CVD risk in men. Increasing time dedicated to activities such as walking would be expected to help to reduce the stroke burden in women.

Life after stroke – is palliative care relevant?
Only about 50% of people who have a stroke survive to five‐years. Clinicians should identify those most at risk of dying, and gradually integrate palliative care. Such holistic and anticipatory care will be of benefit to patients and their family carers; should reduce futile treatments, medications, or unsuccessful resuscitation attempts; and help more people die how and where they choose. Ischemic stroke in patients with cancer: Is it different from usual strokes?
ConclusionsISC‐active, but not ISC‐inactive, is distinct in terms of risk factors, stroke mechanisms, and lesion patterns. Chronic inflammation and an activated coagulation system may contribute to the pathogenic mechanism of strokes, the extent of each depending on the activity and severity of cancer.

C-reactive Protein and Homocysteine Predict Long-term Mortality in Young Ischemic Stroke Patients
Conclusions: There is an independent association between CRP and homocysteine levels obtained several years after ischemic stroke in young adults and subsequent mortality, even when adjusting for traditional risk factors.
