Meta-Analysis of Potassium Intake and the Risk of Stroke Genetics
Conclusions Overall, this dose–response meta-analysis confirms the inverse association between potassium intake and stroke risk, with potassium intake of 90 mmol (3500 mg)/day associated with the lowest risk of stroke.

AbstractDelirium is the most common and serious neurobehavioral complication in acute hospital admissions. Some patients develop signs of delirium but do not meet all diagnostic criteria. Stroke is a major risk factor for delirium. The aim of this prospective study was to build a predictive model for delirium and subsyndromal post-stroke delirium. Altered flexor carpi radialis motor axon excitability properties after cerebrovascular stroke
ConclusionIn contrast to our expectations, FCR axons were not hyperexcitable after stroke. Rather, FCR axons were found to be hyperpolarized bilaterally post stroke, and this was associated with disability and [K+]. Reduced FCR axon excitability may represent a kind of bilateral trans-synaptic homeostatic mechanism that acts to minimize motoneuron hyperexcitability.

Trends in 24-hours sodium and potassium intake, and association with all-cause mortality among US Stroke Survivors (S30.008)
CONCLUSIONS: Less than one in five stroke survivors in the US meet recommendations for sodium consumption. High sodium intake is associated with higher mortality after stroke among the elderly. The combination of high potassium and low sodium intake trended toward a better survival after stroke, highlighting the need for targeted dietary interventions.Disclosure: Dr. Lin has nothing to disclose. Intake of potassium- and magnesium-enriched salt improves functional outcome after stroke: a randomized, multicenter, double-blind controlled trial.

Chemogenetics-mediated acute inhibition of excitatory neuronal activity improves stroke outcome.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data demonstrate that acute inhibition of a subset of excitatory neurons after ischemic stroke can prevent brain injury and improve functional outcome. This study, together with the previous work in optogenetic neuronal modulation during the chronic phase of stroke, supports the notion that targeting neuronal activity is a promising strategy in stroke therapy. Association of Dyskalemias with Ischemic Stroke in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease Patients Transitioning to Dialysis
Conclusion: In patients with advanced CKD, hypokalemia (chronic exposure) was associated with a higher risk of ischemic stroke, whereas hyperkalemia (acute exposure) was associated with a lower risk of ischemic stroke.
