The effect of dechitinization on iron absorption from mealworm larvae (Tenebrio molitor) flour added to maize meals: stable-isotope studies in young females with low iron stores
ConclusionsT. molitor biomass does not strongly affect iron absorption when added to maize porridge. Our data suggestT. molitor iron is absorbed from the common nonheme iron pool. NativeT. molitor is high in iron which is moderately well absorbed, suggesting it could be a valuable dietary iron source. This trial was registered atclinicaltrials.gov as NCT04510831. Associations of dietary diversity with the gut microbiome, fecal metabolites, and host metabolism: results from 2 prospective Chinese cohorts
ConclusionsThese results suggest that high dietary diversity is associated with the gut microbial environment. The identified key microbes and metabolites may serve as hypotheses to test for preventing metabolic diseases. (Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children food package revisions and anemia in children aged 2 –5 years
ConclusionsThis study found that the WIC 2009 revisions were associated with lower probability of nonthalassemic microcytic anemia and better adequacy of dietary iron intake, thereby suggesting the beneficial impact of WIC revisions on iron deficiency anemia in children. The current study findings suggest that nutritional policies could play a crucial role in supporting the health of vulnerable children in the United States. Dietary exposure to acrylamide and breast cancer risk: results from the NutriNet-Sant é cohort
ConclusionsResults from this large prospective cohort study suggest a positive association between dietary acrylamide and breast cancer risk, especially in premenopausal females, and provide new insights that support continued mitigation strategies to reduce the content of acrylamide in food. This trial was registered atclinicaltrials.gov as NCT03335644. Body composition trajectories from birth to 5 years and hepatic fat in early childhood
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that a smaller birth weight, combined with faster adiposity accretion in the first 5 y, predicts higher hepatic fat in early childhood. Strategies aiming to promote healthy body composition early in life may be critical for pediatric NAFLD prevention. This study was registered voluntarily at  clinicaltrials.gov as NCT02273297. Short-chain fatty acids are key mediators of the favorable effects of the Mediterranean diet on intestinal barrier integrity: data from the randomized controlled LIBRE trial
ConclusionsOur data suggest that SCFAs are key mediators for the relation between diet and gut health. Assessment of SCFAs may form a basis for personalized nutrition in future clinical care. These results need to be verified in larger studies powered for this purpose, comprising different study populations. The trial was registered atclinicaltrials.gov as NCT02087592 and NCT02516540.
