Regulation of Therapeutic Hypothermia on Inflammatory Cytokines, Microglia Polarization, Migration and Functional Recovery after Ischemic Stroke in Mice.
This study reveals the first evidence for hypothermia mediated regulation on inflammatory factor expression, microglia polarization, migration and indicates that the anti-inflammatory effect is an important mechanism underlying the brain protective effects of a TH therapy. Deletion of the P2X4 receptor is neuroprotective acutely, but induces a depressive phenotype during recovery from ischemic stroke
Conclusions P2X4R deletion protects against stroke acutely but predisposes to depression-like behavior chronically after stroke. Thus, a time-sensitive approach should be considered when targeting P2X4Rs after stroke.

Stroke Mimics in the Acute Setting: Role of Multimodal CT Protocol ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: Multimodal CT demonstrated low sensitivity but high specificity in the diagnosis of stroke mimics in the acute setting. The high specificity of multimodal CT allows ruling out stroke and thereby avoiding unnecessary revascularization treatment in patients with diagnosis of a stroke mimic.

Cerebellar Fastigial Nucleus Stimulation in a Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress Rat Model Reduces Post-Stroke Depression by Suppressing Brain Inflammation via the microRNA-29c/TNFRSF1A Signaling Pathway.

Case Report: Brain Metastasis Confined to the Infarcted Area Following Stroke
Conclusions: Cerebral infarctions can cause neovascularization and disruption of the blood–brain barrier. Moreover, the compartmentalized cavity formed by the ischemic injury may accept a large volume of metastatic tumor cells. Such an altered microenvironment of infarcted tissue would be suitable for the colonization and proliferation of metastatic seed. Further, brain metastases should be considered, in addition to recurrence, when new focal neurological deficits develop in patients with ischemic stroke and comorbid cancer.

Conclusions: Serum TF-UP/LRP level is decreased in patients with acute ischemic stroke in comparison with brain tumor, and it may serve as a serum biomarker for the neuronal/glial cell damage in cerebral infarction.
