miRNA-770-5p expression is upregulated in patients with type 2 diabetes and miRNA-770-5p knockdown protects pancreatic β-cell function via targeting BAG5 expression
In conclusion, miR-770-5p was highly expressed in the serum of patients with T2DM compared with healthy volunteers. In UA-treated pancreatic β-cells, compared with the inhibitor control group, miR-770-5p knockdown regulated the expression of apoptosis-related genes, increased cell viability, inhibited cell apoptosis and increased insulin secretion by targeting BAG5. Therefore, the present study suggested that miR-770-5p inhibitor may serve a protective role in T2DM.PMID:33986829 | PMC:PMC8112148 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2021.10096

Increased Expression of S100B and RAGE in a Mouse Model of Bile Duct Ligation-induced Liver Fibrosis
CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that the increased expression of S100B and RAGE and the interaction between S100B and RAGE may play an important role in ductular reaction and liver fibrosis induced by BDL.PMID:33847081 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2021.36.e90

Inhibitory effect of miR-140-5p on doxorubicin resistance of hepatocellular carcinoma
Exp Ther Med. 2021 May;21(5):507. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.9938. Epub 2021 Mar 18.ABSTRACTTo investigate the role of microRNA (miR)-140-5p in doxorubicin (DOX) sensitivity in hepatocellular carcinoma, miR-140-5p and peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 1 (PIN1) expression was first evaluated in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues using starBase. Next, in vitro experiments were performed. Cell line expression of miR-140-5p and PIN1 expression was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Cell viability and proliferation were determined by the Cell Counting Kit-8 and EdU assays. The relationship ...

miR-23a-3p regulates the proliferation and apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells by targeting Bcl-2 in an < em > in vitro < /em > model of cataracts
In conclusion, the findings of the current study suggested that the inhibition of miR-23a-3p may attenuate H2O2-induced cataract formation by targeting BCL2, thus providing a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of patients with cataracts in the clinic.PMID:33777189 | PMC:PMC7967796 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2021.9853

Role of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein in RANKL-differentiated murine macrophage RAW264.7 cells: Modulation of NF- κB, c-Fos and NFATc1 transcription factors
Exp Ther Med. 2021 May;21(5):412. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.9856. Epub 2021 Feb 25.ABSTRACTVasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) is essential for osteoclast differentiation, and reduced VASP expression results in depressed osteoclast differentiation. Previously, we demonstrated the importance of VASP and Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 interactions in osteosarcoma cell migration and metastasis using Mg-63 and Saos2 cells. However, the molecular details of the functional role of VASP in cell motility and migration remain to be elucidated. The present study demonstrated that VASP affects the expression of αV-i...
