Ten-year experience with intracameral chemotherapy for aqueous seeding in retinoblastoma: long-term efficacy, safety and toxicity
Conclusion ICC appears to be safe and efficient for AS without irreversible vision-threatening adverse effects. More data are needed to determine any superiority in efficiency/toxicity of topotecan versus melphalan. (Source: British Journal of Ophthalmology)

Anophthalmic socket in retinoblastoma: Exploring complications and risk factors in a tertiary centre in Malaysia
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term post-enucleation complications were not uncommon. Luckily, most had good outcomes, with a few needing surgical intervention. Meticulous suturing technique on the Tenon and conjunctival layer is essential to prevent implant exposure.PMID:38105429 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219530 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

LILRB3 Modulates Acute Myeloid Leukemia Progression and Acts as an Effective Target for CAR T-cell Therapy
In this study, we found that LILRB receptors can be induced under inflammatory stimuli and chemotherapy treatment conditions. Blockade of LILRB3 inhibited leukemia cell proliferation and leukemia progression. In addition, treatment with LILRB3 blocking antibodies upregulated myeloid lineage differentiation transcription factors, including PU.1, C/EBP family, and IRF, whereas phosphorylation of proliferation regulators, for example, AKT, cyclin D1, and retinoblastoma protein, was decreased. Conversely, transcriptomic analysis showed LILRB3 activation by agonist antibodies may enhance leukemia survival through upregulation o...

Optic nerve thickening on high-spatial-resolution MRI predicts early-stage postlaminar optic nerve invasion in retinoblastoma
ConclusionPostlaminar optic nerve thickening can predict early-stage postlaminar optic nerve invasion in retinoblastoma.Clinical relevance statementThis study provides an additional tool for clinicians to help determine postlaminar optic nerve invasion, which is a risk factor for developing metastatic disease in retinoblastoma patients.Key Points• The diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced MRI for detecting postlaminar optic nerve invasion is limited in retinoblastoma patients.• Optic nerve thickening can predict postlaminar optic nerve invasion.• A prediction model combining MRI features has a high sensitivity and...

Aloe-Emodin Isolated from < em > Rheum Undulatum < /em > L. Regulates Cell Cycle Distribution and Cellular Senescence in Human Prostate Cancer LNCaP Cellsfv
This study aimed to investigate the bioactivity of aloe-emodin in LNCaP cells via the activation of p21-mediated cellular senescence. Aloe-emodin treatment increased the percentage of cells in the G1 phase while decreasing the percentage in the S phase. This effect was reflected in the expression levels of proteins associated with cell cycle progression, such as p21CIP, retinoblastoma protein, and cyclin-dependent kinase2/4 in LNCaP cells. However, aloe-emodin-treated LNCaP cells did not induce cell cycle arrest at G2/M checkpoint. Moreover, increased senescence-associated-galactosidase activity was observed in a dose-depe...

Stigmasterol Depresses the Proliferation and Facilitates the Apoptosis of Fibroblast-Like Synoviocytes via the PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathway in Collagen-Induced Arthritis Rats
This study aims to investigate the effects of stigmasterol on FLS cell proliferation and apoptosis, as well as its impact on FLS cell cycle proteins and key genes in the Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) pathway, providing insights into the development of stigmasterol as an alternative therapeutic drug for RA. We administered 20 g/kg stigmasterol to rats continuously for 5 d to obtain stigmasterol-containing serum, and established rat models of osteoarthritis induced by ossein to obtain FLS. To explore the effects of stigmasterol on the viability, migration, proliferation and apoptosis of collagen-i...
