Current client wants to join a book club I am running on my recent book
So, I recently wrote a book, called "The Healing Trauma Workbook". I am starting a book club on it / about it. It is intended to be psychoeducational. My current client wants to join the book club. I am not sure if that is a conflict of interest? Any thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Possibility for Research With Cheaper Online PHD
Hi, I am most likely going to end up in graduate school for Social Work for practical reasons. However, I am very research-oriented and would like to eventually spend time doing proper research and perhaps even publishing. Is there any chance of being able to enter the world of research with a DSW or a non-clinical PHD in psychology? Does it matter whether it's an R-1 university etc? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MFT Interview
Hey everyone! So.. My girlfriend had her interview with Texas Tech University's Marriage and Family Therapy Master's program on Friday, and it seems the group interview might not have gone that well. Some stronger personalities really dominated the social scene and took up much of the air time: her shy personality didn't really get to shine out, even though the rest of her app was pretty decent. I wanted to ask if anyone with any experience in MFT master's programs know when they report... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PsyD vs. medical school?
I’m torn between whether to pursue medical school or a PsyD. I feel like I have a lot of conflicting things to consider. Has anyone ever navigated a similar question? How did you decide? My thought process: I absolutely love clinical work. I despise research and find it monotonous. I primarily want to work with clients/patients. Psychology is my primary passion. I also love medicine. I could learn about various medical topics, from neurology to urology, all day long. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Email after an interview?
Who should you be emailing after a day of interviews? I also had questions for one professor but did not get the chance to speak to them. Should I email that professor as well with my questions? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Internship Questions - Competitiveness, Hours, etc.
Hi everyone, I'd like some input from TDs (preferably VA neuro, but I'd love if others could jump in) regarding minimum hours to be considered for internship and some follow-up advice. I plan on applying to VAs and AMCs for their neuro tracks. 1) Which hours requirements should I be considering as the absolute minimum? For example, on the APPIC website a program lists the minimum required hours to apply as 250 intervention and 50 assessment. However, on their brochure, they list a "minimum... Counseling Psychology EPPP rates
As the application cycles is slowly coming to a wrap for me, I've become far more critical of programs before committing anywhere. One thing that recently drew my attention is that most counseling psychology programs seem to have EPPP pass rates that leave a bit to be desired. I really enjoyed a lot of the counseling programs I did interview and am seriously considering an offer I received at one. Still, its EPPP pass rate (low 70%) is considerably lower than the clinical pass rate... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Questions about University of Alaska Anchorage's PhD Clinical-Community Program
Hi all, the other post got overloaded with comments not answering possible applicant questions, so I wanted to create a new thread to answer any questions potential applicants may have about the program, from someone who was in it! Ask away (Source: Student Doctor Network)

In 3 research labs. Which would you quit?
As the title says, I am currently in 3 research labs (BME, social psychology, and neurology) as a first-year double major. Obviously, it is a lot to manage and I am starting to feel it. However, I do not know which one I should drop. Let me give some details and hopefully you all can help guide me. 1) BME: I really like this lab, I do about 10 hrs/week, in person, working under a PhD student. I am the youngest in this lab by far but everyone in the lab is nice and is willing to teach me... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Giving birth before postdoc
Hello! I am currently in the APPIC postdoc process and received an offer from my top choice (and am holding this offer). I am currently pregnant and have a due date for middle of July. Most of the sites I applied for start late July/early August. This obviously is not ideal as I will have two or less weeks to recover. I will most likely need another two to three more weeks to recover. I disclosed my pregnancy to my top choice once they offered me a position and briefly talked with the TD... Opposition to Proposed CACREP Mandate in Georgia
A bill was just introduced in Georgia that would make graduates from five Master's programs in the state unable to become licensed as Professional Counselors. This bill would do two major things. First, it would ban anyone who doesn't have a degree from a CACREP program from becoming licensed as a Counselor, and second it would allow LPCs to perform any kind of psychological testing, including neuropsychological and forensic assessments. As many of you all know, CACREP bans Psychologists... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Postdoctoral fellowship at baylor (ben taub hospital)
Has anyone heard anything generally about the psychology service at Ben Taub Hospital/Baylor College or Medicine or their psychology postdoctoral fellowship (e.g., culture of the program, quality of training/supervision, work life balance)? It’s the Adult Inpatient/Outpatient Track. What do people think about that versus a fellowship at VA Boston’s Trauma Track? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
