Despise for “midlevels” on this forum
Long-time reader of these forums. When it comes to so-called “midlevels” (e.g., LCSWs/LPCs or whatever state-specific iteration of these terminal masters degrees) I am wondering if people here can separate out what is good for clinical psychologists from a financial-, prestige-, and so-on perspective, from what is good for society from a realistic, clinical, healthcare perspective? Take a random state, like Washington State, for example: There are almost 8 million people in WA State and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Unexpected Paternity leave during internship
Hello everyone. I want to first thank you for taking the time to read this thread and to help share your insight/wisdom regarding the matter of paternity leave. I was accepted into an internship placement at a hospital located within NYC. Shortly after being accepted into the position, I found out that my wife was pregnant and that our baby girl's due date is set for the end of September. My internship began at the end of August, which only allowed me around 4 weeks before our baby girl is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I'm feeling hopeless about everything
I've had a not-so-great past 4 years as an undergrad at UVA (at least compared to when I was applying to colleges in high school - 4.3 cum gpa + tons of leadership and extracurriculars). I graduated back in May with my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and minored in Psychology hoping to get into medical school but I realized, I wasted my undergrad years. I have done a lot of extracurriculars (resident advisor for 3 years, student government/community work/advocacy/event planning all 4 years) and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do folks w Counseling Psych PhDs ever hold faculty positions/teach in Departments of Psychology with Clinical folks at universities, or only in Departments of Education. Vice versa? Is it just precedent to stay with your group? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Phd applicant review process?
Hi, does anyone have experience or know how this usually happens? Do they all get hard copies or look at each applicant on a laptop? or does each committee member make a short list independently and then they confer? Does the electronic application we send in get pushed to the top by their system if certain criteria are met? What do they tend to look at first? Would it make any sense to write a high gpa just to get the rest of ones application looked at? or is that just stupid and will... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Adjunct teacher's PsyD rates
Hi, I am curious to know others' hourly rates for teaching courses at PsyD programs. I am a clinical licensed psychologist and am being paid $48 per hour (each 3 hour course per week pays me 4.35 hours of preparations so total is 7.35 hours per week being paid for a 3 credit course). Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to find research postdoc positions in clinical psychology
Hey all, I'm interested in looking for research postdoc positions within clinical psychology. However, I don't want to use the APPIC system to apply since the deadline is too early for me. I also think that the APPIC application system is more for clinical-focused postdocs? Do you have any recommendations on how to look for the research-focused postdoc positions? Any websites/listserv/social media accounts that you'd like to recommend, too? Also, what is the typical timeline for the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
