Is swearing in front of kids bad for them?
I’m a med student entering psychiatry and I admittedly don’t know much psychology yet unfortunately. I had a patient in passing ask me if it’s bad for her kid if her husband swears in front of the kids. Her kids are 1,3 and 6. I wasn’t really sure if there was any literature on this and felt bad I couldn’t provide a clear answer. Is there any data on this? My psychiatry attending didn’t really know so I thought I’d ask my psychology colleagues since you guys probably know more about... Is swearing in front of kids bad for them? Hourly rate as independent contractor for cash only psychology practice
I am looking into a part time opportunity to work 2 to 3 days in a 12 psychotherapist practice. Maybe 200 for a followup and 400ish for a new patient. Plan is to do 20 to 30 minute followup and 1 hour new patient (most would have diagnosis from the therapist). The want to offer an hourly rate but maybe willing to consider a salary. I will have to do my own malpractice insurance. What would be a good hourly rate to start with? My take is that I can negotiate a higher rate than a psychiatry... Question for successful applicants: English credits?
What kinds of writing credits did you have? I have only AP English, but plenty of humanities (art history, psychology, anthropology, polisci) and will take two 1 credit Biomedical writing intensive classes. I also plan on doing an honors thesis, so that satisfies some schools’ writing requirement (assuming my proposal is accepted.) Do you think I’m good or should try to squeeze in a literature class in the fall? (This is for applying to T20 schools. I know I’m good for state ones) Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

We are in the beginning process of looking for a new Practice Management Software. prescribing psychologists/NPs
I have a question that is genuinely prompted by ignorance, not because I want to play devil's advocate. Prescribing psychologists/NP pose obvious, huge patient safety issues. Full stop. And supervising these practitioners also presents many potential liability issues. But are there other reasons why people are opposed to prescribing psychologists and NPs? Not that there need to be - again, obvious safety issues. But I am wondering if there are other concerns. I can't imagine they pose a... prescribing psychologists/NPs (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hierarchy of internship sites?
I am trying to get a better understand of the hierarchy of internship sites out there for clinically-oriented students. Not sure if one exists. I have heard VAs take the top spot and university-based counseling centers are at the bottom (for reasons I don't fully understand). I'm not saying I intend to use this hierarchy to solely determine which sites to apply to - but it would be helpful to have an understanding of how the field views internship sites for post-doc etc. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am in a position with RVU expectations written into my contract. These RVU goals are high compared to other similar settings and I am consistently exceeding the RVU goals by about 30% each month. How are you guys handling APC chart distribution among your physicians? At our CMG, APC charts probably add or subtract an additional ~$25/hr at the end of the month (or more) but we have no organized system for an even distribution among the physicians. I was originally pre-med, but after becoming a research assistant I had a change of heart and decided to go into Clinical Psychology in hopes of really opening up my options post-grad. I love both working with patients and research. I've been doing research in a... Prepping for graduate school, clinical psychology hopeful! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
