Is a post doc in neuropsychology imperative to board certify?
I may catch some flack for this but am trying to get some thoughts and feedback about the necessity of pursuing a post-doc in neuropsychology and the longterm pros vs cons of bypassing this step, particularly as it applies to the board certification process. I want to preface that this question is motivated by my age and capacity to continue to live with a limited salary, particularly because I have a lot of student loans, including private (not federal) loans that are in repayment no matter... Termination in Private Practice
Curious to hear termination policies people have in place working in outpatient private practice. In particular, what are folks doing for folks that don’t reach out for many months and/or for folks with chronic illness, young children, or abnormal schedules? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

For private practitioners, who are you networking with for referral sources?
I was curious to see what all referral sources private practitioners are getting involved with. Right now, mine are insurance companies a psychiatrist and a psychologist who routinely refer to me, and I also get the random referrals from unknown physicians, psychologists, and other therapists. I am looking to find a good solid referral source to get steady patients, so any thoughts and examples would be greatly appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chance of Admission
Hi everyone! I thought my anxiety would melt away after putting in my applications, but now I'm stressed about admissions. I put in applications to GWU and Loyola. For GWU I put in for their PsyD program and their art therapy MA program, and for Loyola, I put in for their PsyD program. Currently, I have a 3.923 (all A's with the exception of one B+), one year of clinical lab experience, 3 years experience as an on-campus job (sadly not psych-based but can be applicable to gaining skills... Why is the PsyD degree so watered down?
As a “professional degree” why are there so many different programs under the PsyD degree? I understand having PsyDs in Clinical, Counseling, or School psychology (although I feel like it’d be best to just have a PsyD in one overarching discipline, similar to how every other professional degree is specific to their overall field, MD in medicine, PharmD in pharmacy, OD in optometry, DDS in dentistry, etc.) as those are the normal, accredited eligible, pathways that lead to licensure and... YouTube and psychology
Hello, folks! Enjoy knowing that one of the most currently trending videos on YouTube is BvDK spreading trauma pseudoscience and saying that people who haven’t seen trauma in their lives “haven’t looked hard enough.” On a meta note, maybe this thread can be dedicated to discussing the impact of short micro videos like this on our field, or just public forum videos in general. How are 10-min. bite sized videos, accurate or not, affecting the public perception of our field... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying to internship with a school-age child(ren) - partner won't move
Has anyone navigated this situation before? I live in Los Angeles and am worried about having to move out of state in order to match. My co-parent/ex-partner is not receptive to leaving LA, and honestly, I don't want to uproot my son's life for only a year. I welcome your wisdom, hope, and strength. 🙏 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Generalist internship, neuro postdoc?
Moving for an internship (and then AGAIN for a postdoc) poses some serious issues for my family because I have kiddos. The concern I have is that the only internship available in this city is very generalist. It is assessment-heavy, but there are little to no neuro opportunities. In grad school, I've done 2 true neuro practicums and one ASD practicum that included a lot of neuro testing. If I do the generalist practicum will i be SOL for a neuro fellowship?
